We are seeking a Geospatial CAD Technician that will support surveying, engineering, and pipeline operations by integrating GIS data and CAD drafting to produce accurate, client-ready deliverables. This position is responsible for creating and maintaining spatial databases, producing detailed drawings, and ensuring quality control across geospatial and drafting projects.
- Provide GIS and drafting support to survey and pipeline operations.
- Develop, manage, and update GIS databases for pipeline centerlines, surface sites, and land records.
- Draft and prepare client deliverables including alignment sheets, landowner plats, permit exhibits, bore design profiles, and boundary surveys.
- Create surfaces in Civil 3D using field and GIS data.
- Perform quality control checks on drawings, datasets, and deliverables.
- Integrate ESRI GIS products, AutoCAD/Civil 3D, and Global Mapper to analyze, visualize, and present spatial information.
- Generate and reference KMZ/KML files for project planning and field use.
- Collaborate with survey crews, engineers, and IT staff to troubleshoot drafting and GIS software issues.
- Screen and submit One Call Line Locate Ticket requests, track progress, and verify responses.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisors.
- Proficient in AutoCAD/Civil 3D and ESRI ArcGIS software. If experienced in ArcGIS, we will train in Civil 3D.
- Experience with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook,) and Adobe Acrobat.
- Ability to work across GIS and CAD platforms to deliver accurate, integrated products.
- Ability to remain flexible and adapt to changing client standards, project timelines, and priorities.
- Strong problem-solving and quality assurance skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of coordinate systems, land grid systems, and survey practices.
- Knowledge of high-definition laser scanning and LiDAR data processing preferred.
- Applicable GIS certifications a plus.
- Ability to lift 25 lbs and sit for long periods.
- Must pass required background check.
- 2–4 years of combined GIS, surveying, or drafting experience.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Experience managing GIS databases and creating professional maps.
- Preferred knowledge of AutoCAD commands, functions, title blocks, and dynamic blocks.
