Position Title: OPERATING AND MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN (OMT MECH)

Position Summary: The Operating and Maintenance Mechanical Technician will be responsible for the plant operations, installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of the plant mechanical systems and equipment. This role will be crucial in ensuring the reliability and proper functioning of the various balance of plant and main engine package system components.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
•Safety: Takes personal responsibility to incorporate safe behavior into all activities and consistently complies with all established safety and health policies and procedures, helps to identify, and eliminate or actively manage risks in all work activities. Adheres to safety protocols and industry regulations when working on electrical systems, ensuring a safe working environment for oneself and colleagues. Identify and address potential safety hazards. Work within and ensure strict adherence to all safety and environmental procedures. Perform housekeeping tasks to maintain a clean safe work environment and professional appearance.
•Operations: Operate generation units (Gas Reciprocating Generators) and associated auxiliary systems equipment in accordance with local permits and procedures as directed by the Plant Manager.
•Maintenance and Repair: Perform routine preventative and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on mechanical equipment such as tanks, coolers, SCR exhaust systems, piping, valves, pumps, motors, and other mechanical components on high- and low-pressure systems as required. Provide documentation of work performed, supplies used, and other items that will be required to plan and control maintenance activities. Prepare records and reports as required.
+ Advanced knowledge to assist and participate in routine inspections and modify Natural Gas Generators and associated auxiliary systems equipment.
+ Advanced knowledge in troubleshooting units to identify possible problems, engine and/or generator.
+ Advanced knowledge in making electrical and mechanical wiring modifications to generator control circuits.
+ Advanced knowledge in engine testing, engine coolant, and engine oil systems. Adhere to all safety guidelines and policies.
+ Accurately troubleshoot and diagnose all problems with power generation equipment, including support of electrical technician troubleshooting as needed.
+ Remove and install parts, disassemble and assemble components, and clean and inspect assemblies with minimal supervision.
+ Test and verify the correct operation of all repairs and adjustments.
+ Apply general failure analysis and procedures to determine the proper diagnosis.
•Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of maintenance activities, repairs, calibrations, and equipment specifications. Assists in developing plant procedures and plant improvement/modifications as required. This documentation is crucial for compliance, reporting, and future reference.
•Collaboration: Collaborate with other maintenance personnel, engineers, and production teams to ensure seamless operation of processes and to address equipment-related issues promptly.
+ Help Train other technicians on troubleshooting and repairs.
+ Maintain a clean job site.
•Upgrades and Improvements: Participate in projects aimed at upgrading or improving mechanical systems. This could involve implementing new technologies, optimizing processes, and enhancing system performance.
+ Ability to read mechanical and preferably electrical wiring diagrams and schematics.
+ Ability to maintain records electronically.
•Computer Support: Able to work with system administrator to set up / troubleshoot support tickets.
•Emergency Response: Respond to emergency situations promptly, such as equipment failures or breakdowns, and take appropriate actions to restore normal operations. Work overtime and call outs on an as-needed basis.
•Training: Stay updated with the latest developments in instrumentation and electrical technology through ongoing training and professional development activities.
•Perform other tasks as directed by the Plant Manager.
Educational and Other Requirements:
•5+ years of relatable experience in power generation
•Experience with natural gas engines, preferably with Cat 3500s+ or Jenbacher J-Series
•Ability to work rotation schedule
•High level of integrity and work ethic.
•Self-motivated and quick learner with the ability to work independently or as a team player.
•Excellent troubleshooting and technical skills
•Knowledge of electrical systems.
•Excellent customer skills.
•Good written and oral communication skills.
•Appropriate safety equipment and practices are required.
•Must be cooperative with those he/she contacts in this work and can work without direct supervision.
•Must know the hazards involved and the safety precautions to be practiced in the maintenance of power plant equipment and machinery. Work within and ensure strict adherence to all safety procedures.
•Must be able to respond to audio alarms and variations of sound.
•Must have a valid driver’s license.
•Strong communication and teamwork skills.
•Physical ability to work in a variety of environmental conditions.
•The employee must possess the ability to lift 50 pounds.
