Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Generator Technician to install, maintain, and repair generator systems for residential, commercial, and industrial clients. The ideal candidate will have strong electrical and mechanical aptitude, experience with diesel and gas-powered generators, and a commitment to safety and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
•Install, test, and commission new generator systems.
•Perform routine maintenance and servicing of standby and prime power generators.
•Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults in generator systems.
•Troubleshoot engine components including fuel systems, cooling systems, exhaust systems, and control panels.
•Interpret technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and schematics.
•Maintain accurate service records and documentation of work performed.
•Ensure compliance with all applicable safety standards and regulations.
•Provide emergency response and on-call support for generator-related issues.
•Maintain inventory of tools, equipment, and parts.
Qualifications:
•High school diploma or GED required; technical or vocational training preferred.
•Proven experience as a generator technician or similar role (2+ years preferred).
•Strong knowledge of diesel and gas engines, alternators, and control systems.
•Familiarity with brands such as Cummins, Kohler, Generac, or Caterpillar is a plus.
•Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical diagrams.
•Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
•Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in varying environmental conditions.
•Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
•Knowledge of NFPA110 life safety.
Preferred Certifications (Not Required):
•EGSA Certification (Electrical Generating Systems Association)
•Manufacturer-specific training (e.g., CAT, Cummins, MTU, Kohler)
