Job Summary: A generator technician apprentice's primary objective is to assist a technician with installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing standby generators and automatic transfer switches in the field in a thorough and accurate manner, ensuring work is completed to the highest level of customer satisfaction.
•Assists with installs, repairs, and maintenance of generators & generator components. Must follow safety practices, electrical and gas code, manuals, schematic diagrams, blueprints, and other specifications, using hand tools, power tools, and electronic test equipment.
•Replaces belts and hoses; changes and/or tops off oil and filters.
•Properly and completely fills out all service reports, PM checklists and timecards within department guidelines; Ensures they are legible and accurate with sufficient detail for service accounting needs.
•Assists with installing new power supply wiring and conduit, as well as gas lines and conduit.
•Assists with diagnosing and replacing faulty components: such as stators, rotors, engines, batteries, relays, switches, solenoids, valves, and regulators, etc.
•Occasionally supports sales team on sales calls and bid preparation.
•Communicates with customers as necessary to insure strong relationships are maintained.

Minimum requirements:
•High school graduate or GED
•Employee is expected to be on time and prepared to work
Abilities required:
•Must be able to lift and carry without personal injury at least 80 Lbs.
•Employee must be able to hand dig, fabricate framing, mix, pour & finish concrete as required.
•Employee is expected to pay attention to job duties and make preparations to work safely, efficiently in a neat & professional manner.
•Employee may be expected to work in adverse conditions such as rain, snow, high winds, dark, muddy, or dirty conditions.
•Employee is expected to keep customers homes, work areas, shop, office, work trucks clean and free of debris, and other safety hazards.
•Employee is expected to perform all other duties as assigned.
