Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled General Maintenance professional to join our team. This position will focus on spraying weeds, trees and ditches on District property.
Preferred qualifications include: Chemical applicator license with Aquatic, Right of Way and Ag Plan Endorsements. Applicant must be able to obtain the chemical applicator license and endorsements if they do not already have them.
You will be responsible for operating hand tools, general construction labor tasks, weed burning, spraying, etc. You will utilize equipment such as winches, trucks, dump trucks, farm tractors, mowers, pumps, compressors, air equipment, earth tampers, and other similar equipment.
Responsibilities
•Safely operate hand tools when assisting with construction or maintenance work
•Burning weeds along the canals
•Responsible for mowing and spraying
•Responsible for safe operation and maintenance of winches, trucks, dump trucks, farm tractors, mowers, pumps, compressors, and air equipment, earth tampers and other similar equipment
•Report usage hours for equipment along with materials and fuel used
•Be available for call outs
•Perform other duties as assigned
Experience
•High school degree or equivalent
•Valid Nebraska driver's license with CDL (or ability to acquire) and a responsible driving record
•Able to obtain appropriate chemical application certification (such as aquatic herbicides)
Work Environment
•Natural work hazards associated with working around water, equipment, excavations, and field construction
•Occasional unusual working hours due to emergencies
•Mild work stress associated with time pressures, emergency situations and/or changes in work priorities
•Occasional uncontrollable interruptions and distractions to planned work
•Strong physical, emotional and mental stamina necessary for this position
