We require 1 candidate to fill this position, reporting to the Bow Island shop. Wage will be relative to certificates, tickets and experience.
This position assists with maintenance within the district. The successful candidate will operate light equipment including tractors and mowers and a variety of hand tools. This position requires the ability to lift 50 lbs and be able to work in adverse conditions. This position requires an employee to work independently at times and should have good decision-making abilities.
· Undertake regular maintenance on district infrastructure and equipment
· Work on construction projects including pipeline construction, concrete construction and road and canal repairs
· Ability to identify and assess maintenance issues when inspecting or repairing structures
· Experience with the repair and maintenance of water management structures.
· Self-directed; able to work without constant supervision
· Basic emergency response training including ICS 100 is an asset but can be trained
· Work under a variety of extreme weather conditions (out in the field)
· Ability to work individually or in a team setting
· Basic computer skills – able to complete online maintenance and safety reports
· Knowledge and skills relating to irrigation construction as well as experience with operating canals & buried pipeline systems would be an asset.
