Position Summary:
The Senior Accountant is a key member of the North America Shared Services team, responsible for managing specific accounting functions across multiple business units and ledgers. This centralized role ensures accurate financial reporting, timely reconciliation processes, and compliance with both NOV and local statutory requirements. The ideal candidate is a self-motivated accounting professional with a strong grasp of inter-company transactions, general ledger operations, and US GAAP.
Key Responsibilities:
Inter-Company Accounting:
•Obtain and review inter-company invoices and supporting documentation from internal partners.
•Accrue for unprocessed inter-company invoices to ensure completeness of financial records.
•Reconcile inter-company balances with global affiliates on a monthly basis.
•Align general ledger entries with inter-company accounts receivable (IC AR) and accounts payable (IC AP) systems.
•Perform monthly reconciliations of all IC AR and IC AP accounts.
•Generate and process recharge invoices for services or cost allocations to group entities.
General Ledger & Month-End Close:
•Prepare and post journal entries with appropriate back-up documentation.
•Maintain balance sheet account reconciliations in accordance with corporate policy.
•Investigate, resolve, and clear reconciling items within established timelines.
•Execute month-end close procedures, ensuring deadlines are met and financial integrity is maintained.
•Compile and analyze financial data to support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting.
•Deliver accurate financial information and analysis to operational teams to assist in decision-making.
•Support ad-hoc financial analysis and special projects as needed.
•Drive continuous improvement through automation, system upgrades, and process optimization.
•Prepare financial statements and ensure alignment with NOV reporting standards and controls.
Compliance, Controls & Audit Support:
•Apply sound understanding of US GAAP and internal control frameworks (e.g., SOX).
•Assist in the preparation of audit schedules and documentation for statutory and tax audits.
•Support documentation and monitoring of internal controls in compliance with corporate standards.
•Adhere to all quality assurance procedures and internal accounting policies.
Operational & Safety Responsibilities:
•Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
•Follow Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) regulations and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
•Report safety concerns, equipment malfunctions, or deviations promptly to supervisors.
•Ensure walkways remain clear and comply with all site safety instructions and speed limits.
Education & Experience Qualifications:
•Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
•Minimum of 2 years of general accounting experience
•CPA, CMA, or MBA preferred.
•Familiarity with GAAP principles
•ERP system experience required (e.g., Oracle, SAP, JDE, SyteLine).
•Experience with HFM and SmartView is a plus.
•Exposure to BlackLine or ARCS is desirable.
Technical Competencies:
•Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Office applications.
•Proven experience with general ledger systems and month-end close procedures.
•Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
