­Project Description

Provide technical expertise in conservation programs to assist Xcel Energy customers with using energy more efficiently. Provide technical guidance and review directly to customers, sales staff, and marketing staff; examine potential applications and recommend solutions. Develop knowledge and expertise in specific technical areas and apply that expertise to maximize customer benefit from Xcel Energy conservation products.

Typical intern responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

- Provide technical assistance to the XE Engineering, Program Management and Sales organizations.

- Perform the day-to-day engineering in assigned technical areas.

- Construct analyses in the technical-financial models that meet the state regulatory and corporate guidelines.

- Contribute to long-term reliability of the Company’s natural gas systems.

- Learn to use various planning tools including hydraulic modeling software.

- Assist with the Company’s annual Design Day planning process.

- Develop processes to support strategic initiatives.

This position is for a June 1st, 2026 start. These positions may have the possibility to extend beyond the internship’s initial term based on the candidate’s successful performance and Xcel’s business needs.

Minimum Requirements

- Current student, Junior status (as of Fall 2026).

- Enrolled in an ABET accredited college or university and pursuing a degree in Engineering.

- Able to commute to the service center in Denver, CO- in office.

- Able to work full-time during the summer (up to 40 hours a week)/ part time during the fall (up to 20 hours a week).

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience in Microsoft Excel

Non-Bargaining

The anticipated starting base pay for this position is: $20.40 per hour
