Furnace Operator

What you can expect to do in this position:

- Operate and maintain the meltdown furnace, flux, clean, skim, weigh and store dross as required

- Skim and clean individual holding furnaces on aluminum diecast machines

- Keep furnace filled to proper level required

- Clean and maintain launder system as required

- Clean and maintain scrap incline conveyor and also tub transfer system as required

- Maintain records on metal usage and other required recordable documentation

- Practice good housekeeping including 5S

- Keep area 's free of scrap and spills

- Obey and practice all safety procedures and properly use LOTO and wear required PPE

- Record on weekly form and report any furnace issues to supervisor

- Weigh and move all scrap collected to designated trailer recording on paperwork in shipping

- Clean drain/trench behind launder system as needed

- Clean under dumper lift and conveyor system as needed

- Any other duties that management may deem necessary

Requirements:

1. Must be capable of passing hilo test for permit and able to drive hilo in safe manner

2. Must wear spats 8-10hrs per day as well as other required personal protective equipment including hearing protection, safety glasses with side shields and gloves

3. Stand from 8 to 10hrs with up to 3 breaks allowed

4. Must be able to lift up to 65lbs up to 20 times per shift

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: Up to $19.50 per hour
