Position Summary
The Full-Time Apprenticeship Training Instructor is responsible for teaching and assisting in executing the four-year ELECTRICAL Apprenticeship Training Program. Working shifts are Monday through Friday, 6am to 3:30pm for day classes; 12pm to 9pm for night classes.
This program is a registered PA Department of Labor & Industry and Accredited Training Sponsor of the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER). They will design and implement plans, training and development programs to improve individual and organizational performance. The instructor will also analyze training needs to support continuous improvement and establish a culture that encourages learning and development.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
•Conducts technical and professional development training for participants of the Apprenticeship Training Program.
•Offers specific training programs to help workers maintain or improve job skills.
•Monitors, evaluates, and records training activities and program effectiveness. Develops alternative training methods if expected improvements are not realized.
•Available to provide additional training for customers at their location depending on requirements; including curriculum such as Lift / Fall Protection; Forklift/Telehandler; Arc Flash NFPA 70E Training; First Aid / CPR / AED, etc.
•Available to visit multiple locations for Career Fairs, Trade shows, and support local pre-apprenticeships with proctoring students for physical hands-on exams.
•Keeps up with industry developments and obtains information for use in training programs by attending meetings or seminars and reading journals, books, or articles.
•Performs all tasks and duties in an efficient and safe manner.
•Performs other related duties as assigned or as necessary. Remains flexible and adaptable in work schedules and work assignments as defined by departmental and organizational needs.
•Represents Universal Electrical Service in a manner that conveys professionalism, confidentiality, courtesy, fairness, personal integrity, and respect for others.
Qualifications
•High School diploma or equivalent required
•At least five (5) years of trade experience as an electrician
•Knowledge of all aspects of the electrical industry and applicable rules and regulations
•Strong leadership skills and interpersonal skills
•Excellent organization, planning, and prioritization skills
•Excellent written and verbal communication skills
•Excellent presentation skills
•Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
•Ability to coach and develop others.
•Ability to work in a team environment and independently.
•Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, especially Excel and Word
