Fuel Accountant

Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Fuel Accountant to manage and reconcile fuel-related financial data using PDI Enterprise and Cargas Energy accounting software systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in fuel distribution or retail operations accounting, with a keen understanding of inventory reconciliation, accounts payable, and customer billing. This position plays a critical role in ensuring accurate financial reporting and operational efficiency within our retail and wholesale fuel business.

Responsibilities

- Record and reconcile daily fuel inventory transactions.

- Import or enter fuel costs, BOLs, fuel and non-fuel invoices, EFTs, credit cards and loyalty receipts.

- Generate daily billing to wholesale customers.

- Match delivery information from stores to BOLs and fuel supplier invoices.

- Review daily fuel inventory over/short by location and investigate and resolve discrepancies.

- Reconcile EFT/bank drafts to vendor invoices.

- Generate and distribute retail fuel margin reports on a weekly basis.

- Maintain fuel tax rates in the system and prepare periodic fuel tax reporting.

- Report monthly sales volumes to major fuel brands to obtain all eligible rebates.

- Create certain journal entries during month end close process.

- Provide documentation and support for annual audits.

- Maintain organized records of transactions and reconciliations.

- Identify and implement opportunities for improving accounting processes and efficiencies.

- Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

- At least two years of related work experience.

- Able to work in a team environment.
