•Weighs and adds alloying materials as per instruction from supervisor or metallurgist.
•Uses overhead crane to load scrap metal onto preheater conveyor.
Operates gas-fired scrap preheater and charges scrap metal into induction furnaces using charge bucket I* monorail system.
•Stirs metal with steel skimmer to blend in alloying materials.
•Skims off foreign matter and adds slagging compound to top of metal.
Performs repairs to furnace / ladle refractory systems. Rebuilds furnace pouring spout as required.
•Periodically relines induction furnace refractory system and performs sinter heat.
•Moves pallets / bins / molds as required for shakeout operations.
•Sets-up molds on pouring floor and in pouring beds. .

•Conducts sand clean-up tasks around, and in pit, of shakeout unit.
Transports materials (molding flasks, re-melt bins, pig barrels, sand binder totes, etc.) to and from foundry building and associated storage I* warehouse areas.
•Operates bob-cat tractor to clean-up spent sand around shakeout area floor.
•Takes and records molten metal temperatures prior to pour and during pouring process.
•Applies "hot-topping" to mold risers during mold filling process.
•Collects pouring tickets and records heat data into computer system. Records quantities of castings poured, temperature and all other necessary information required by QA and production control. Reports and records number of charges and consumption of material.
•Removes slag from ladle immediately after furnace tap-out.
•Prepares pig-barrels and pours unused metal into identified pig-barrels transports to and from storage area - prepares pigs/ returns for furnace charging.
•Conducts inoculation process for Ductile Iron pours.
•Pours molten metal into sand molds / pig barrels. Works with crane operator to ensure smooth rapid flow of metal into sand mold.
