Summary Description
Primary responsibilities include developing and maintaining the Company’s safety program by having a physical presence in the foundry on a daily basis.
Essential Functions:
•Develop and maintain a safety program and ensure compliance with state’s OSHA requirements
•Facilitate weekly safety training; provide topics to supervisors and maintain training record files
•Coordinate daily, weekly and monthly safety inspections, including forklifts & cranes
•Conduct new employee safety orientation
•Investigate safety incidents/near misses in conjunction with supervisors. Issue regular reports showing accident trends, near misses, safety performance and corrective actions
•Maintain and submit OSHA 300 log recordkeeping
•Ensure the plant safety map is kept up to date with changes that occur, along with maintaining safety walk-through inspections
•Monitor safety supplies and provide input for PPE selection including safety boot purchases and prescription glasses
•Work with the First Responders to ensure training is updated to requirements, and that First Responder secondary assignments are being performed (eyewash stations and first aid cabinets maintained, as examples)
•Take initiative on work environment improvements (air, noise, ergonomics), facilitate quarterly air and noise testing including annual hearing test
•Build and maintain MSDS sheets
•Perform any and all other job related tasks as assigned
Skills or Experience Required:
Must have good computer skills and knowledge of OSHA safety standards. Must be organized and possess excellent people skills
Other Position Demands or Requirements:
•Long periods of Standing and walking – frequent to continuous
•Ability to climb a ladder, stoop & bend as needed
•Able to work in a high-temperature environment with exposure to an open vat of molten iron, heat stress, dust & noise
•Physically able to respond quickly to emergency situations included but not limited to confined spaces, overhead platform, uneven surface area across multiple buildings
•Lift 70 lbs. on an occasional basis
•Comply with Company’s safety policy & procedures
•Abide by the established foundry working requirements (attitude, technique, efficiency, safety, attendance & housekeeping)

Pay: $55,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
