Job Summary
Responsible for overseeing the maintenance, inspection, and repair of over 150 fleet company vehicles and job-related equipment. This role is essential to ensuring our field teams can operate safely and efficiently every day. The ideal candidate is hands-on, organized, and capable of working both independently and collaboratively with internal teams and will report to the Fleet Services Division Manager.
Essential Duties:
•Perform routine maintenance and diagnostics on company vehicles, equipment and tools.
•Coordinating the team of mechanics and ensuring the timely completion of repairs and maintenance
•Giving professional advice to the mechanics on the team
•Testing repaired machines on the road
•Use Azuga or other fleet management systems to track service intervals, mileage, and repair schedules.
•Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues and perform necessary repairs.
•Ensure all fleet vehicles meet safety and regulatory standards.
•Work closely with superintendents and field staff to prioritize urgent repairs.
•Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
•Adhere to safety protocols and procedures while working on equipment and vehicles.
•Oversee the maintenance of service records and ensure timely tracking of maintenance schedules for all fleet assets.
•Manage inventory levels of parts and tools, coordinating with vendors and team members to ensure availability for scheduled maintenance tasks.
•Ensure fleet-wide compliance with all regulatory and safety requirements, including the successful completion and documentation of DOT inspections.
•Be available for emergency repairs and breakdowns, responding quickly to minimize project delays.
•Provide guidance and training to equipment operators and other team members on safe equipment use and maintenance practices.
•Communicate with equipment vendors and suppliers to source parts, schedule maintenance, and obtain technical support as needed.
•Ability to lift and carry up to50 lbs. and perform physical tasks such as walking, squatting, reaching, pushing, and pulling for extended periods.
•Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Qualifications:
•3+ years of experience as an automotive or fleet mechanic (experience with construction vehicles preferred).
•High school diploma or equivalent.
•Technical training or certification in equipment maintenance is a plus.
•Experience as a mechanic, preferably in a construction or industrial setting.
•Familiarity with Azuga or similar fleet tracking/maintenance software is preferred.
•Knowledge of mechanical systems, hydraulics, and electrical components.
•Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
•Commitment to safety and the ability to follow safety procedures.
•Good communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with team members.
Safety/Physical Requirements
•Ability to lift up to 50 lb alone or more with assistance.
•Position requires constant walking, lifting, pushing, pulling, lifting, squatting, bending, and use of power tools.
•This position primarily works in a shop environment with some time spent in the field responding to vehicle breakdowns. Exposure to noise, moving mechanical parts, and varying weather conditions should be expected.
Education
•High school diploma or equivalent.
•A combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the minimum requirements.
Reports to: Fleet Services Division Manager
Pay Rate: $30.00-40.00 per hour
Classification: Non-Exempt, In Person, Full Time
Supervisory: This is a supervisory role.
