About the role
We are excited to announce an opportunity at Orica for a Fleet Operations Planner within the Orica Specialty Mining Chemicals team to ensure our fleet runs efficiently and safely while playing a key role in optimization.
What you will be doing
•Maintain and update all depot compliance records, including inspection files, operating procedures, ICMI qualifications, equipment history, and safety performance records.
•Establish key milestones, and measurable KPIs, regularly monitoring performance to drive continuous fleet improvement.
•Sets the standard for customer service and responsiveness to internal clients, ensuring alignment with business needs, while promoting transparency and timely communication on vehicle availability and fleet status.
•Dispatch Drivers / Outside Carriers on reposition orders as required to maintain fleet optimization.
•Selects suitable equipment and assigns them (or re-assigns when needed) to Export Orders.
•Constant follow up with Cleaning/Depot facilities to assure timely availability of Tank Containers for load appointments, minimizing cleaning time and optimizing turnaround time for our fleet.
•Works closely with Maintenance & Repair Manager to closely monitor Vendor performance, tank repair status, periodic testing status, as well as on-hire and off-hire tanks.
•Identifies qualified partners and negotiates repositioning cost with selected vendors
•Monitors equipment levels throughout North America as well as South & Central America.
•Monitors Import Volumes and Export Booking volumes closely to identify equipment imbalances
•Reports current or upcoming imbalances to Fleet Management and Supply Chain Team.
•Reviews and updates depot inventory reports for North America.
•Approves Vendor Invoices related to their Duties and Responsibilities.
•Participates in Team Meetings to encourage and suggest process improvements
•Utilize a mix of operating system reporting and Excel-based tools to track equipment, inventory, and utilization data.
•Analyze data to identify trends and provide actionable insights to automated management reporting (2 key projects).
What you will bring
•Associate degree in relevant field.
•5 years of pertinent experience.
•Ability to critically think through multiple step process and follow up on several details.
•Ability to solve problems and create solutions.
•Ability to work under time pressures.
•IMDG and DOT hazardous chemical experience, an asset.

Salary to be determined by the applicant’s experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
