The Fleet Mechanic is responsible for performing maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on a diverse range of fleet vehicles and equipment. This role requires a solid understanding of diesel, gasoline, and hybrid engine systems, as well as hydraulics, electrical systems, and modern diagnostic techniques. The Fleet Mechanic will work closely with the Fleet Manager or Maintenance Supervisor to ensure that all fleet assets operate safely and efficiently, thereby maximizing uptime and performance.

Diagnosis & Repair: Perform thorough diagnostics and repair on engines, transmissions, and associated systems across the fleet-including diesel, gasoline, and hybrid powertrains-using advanced diagnostic tools.
Preventative Maintenance: Execute scheduled maintenance tasks such as oil changes, filter replacements, fluid checks, and comprehensive system inspections to prevent breakdowns and prolong vehicle life.
Brake & Suspension Systems: Inspect, maintain, and repair braking systems, suspension components, and steering assemblies to ensure all fleet vehicles operate safely.
Electrical Systems: Troubleshoot and repair vehicle electrical systems including wiring, battery systems, starter motors, alternators, and lighting assemblies.
Fuel Systems: Diagnose and repair fuel system components, including fuel pumps and injectors, while ensuring that emissions control systems are functioning within regulatory standards.
Hydraulics & Pneumatics: Inspect, maintain, and repair hydraulic and pneumatic systems found on various fleet vehicles and equipment.
Equipment Operation: Utilize diagnostic equipment and software to accurately test and troubleshoot vehicle systems.
Documentation: Maintain detailed records of all maintenance and repair work performed, including parts utilized and compliance with maintenance schedules in accordance with company policies.
Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), maintaining a clean and orderly work environment, and following OSHA regulations.
Assist with the maintenance of company vehicles, tools, and equipment.
Participate in safety meetings, training sessions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Respond promptly to emergency repair requests or breakdowns to minimize vehicle downtime.
High School Diploma or GED required; additional technical training or certification in automotive repair or fleet maintenance is preferred.
Valid Class A CDL preferred but not required at hire. Must be able to obtain Class A CDL License within 6 months of hire.
ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) certification in relevant areas are considered an advantage. Diesel Mechanics is another advantage.
Must pass a background check, MVR check, pre-employment drug screen, and physical examination.
2 to 4 years of experience in automotive or fleet maintenance is preferred.
Familiarity with a diverse range of vehicles-including diesel, gasoline, and hybrid-is highly beneficial.
Strong knowledge of engine systems, hydraulic and electrical systems, and repair methodologies.
Proficiency with modern diagnostic tools and automotive technology.
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagrams.
Excellent problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail.
Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
This position operates primarily within a maintenance shop and occasionally in outdoor settings, where the Fleet Mechanic may be exposed to noise, grease, fuel, and other potentially hazardous substances. Work may be performed in varying weather conditions, and adherence to safety regulations is essential.
