Position Overview
We are seeking a highly organized and strategic Fleet Manager to oversee and optimize our
national fleet operations across 40 states and approximately 500 vehicles. This role is
responsible for developing and executing a fleet strategy that balances safety, compliance,
cost-efficiency, and uptime. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on leader with a deep
understanding of fleet logistics, vendor management, DOT compliance, and asset lifecycle
planning.
This is a critical leadership role that will shape the way we manage transportation assets at
scale while supporting the field operations that deliver our services nationwide.
- Develop and implement a national fleet strategy aligned with company growth and
- Monitor and analyze vehicle utilization, fuel efficiency, and cost per mile to optimize
- Oversee fleet budget planning and forecasting, including capital expenditures
- Direct all aspects of vehicle acquisition, registration, leasing, and disposal
- Partner with Fleet Maintenance Manager to enforce preventive maintenance schedules
- Drive improvements in fleet productivity and vehicle availability
- Ensure full compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including DOT/FMCSA
- Maintain and audit records related to inspections and registrations
- Manage relationships with vehicle suppliers, leasing partners, fuel programs, and
- Utilize fleet management systems (e.g., GPS tracking, ELDs, maintenance platforms) to
- Produce performance dashboards and reporting for executive leadership
- Collaborate closely with Operations, Finance, HR, and Safety teams to align fleet
- 7+ years of experience managing a fleet of 250+ vehicles, including multi-state
- Deep knowledge of DOT compliance, fleet safety programs, and regulatory reporting
- Proven track record in vendor negotiation, cost management, and process improvement
- Experience implementing and managing fleet technology platforms (e.g., Samsara,
- Prior experience in waste services, logistics, delivery, or transportation industries
- Familiarity with light- and medium-duty vehicle types (trucks, vans, trailers)
- Strong analytical and project management skills
