Job Purpose
Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on all Utility vehicles and equipment.
Specific Responsibilities
•Initiate and perform preventive and corrective maintenance on all Utility vehicles and equipment, including, but not limited to Freightliner, , Caterpillar, Cummins Vermeer, Ditch Witch, Altec, CASE and other manufacturers/equipment. Powered equipment includes gas, diesel, electric, and manual powered vehicles.
+ Maintain and repair systems on the vehicles and equipment, such as electrical systems, transmission and drive components, hydraulic systems, suspension and steering components, brakes (hydraulic and air), emission control systems, tire repairs, and regular/scheduled maintenance on the vehicles and equipment.
+ Respond to immediate outages on vehicles as needed.
+ Install custom accessories, including fabricating mounting hardware when needed.
+ Test equipment when repairs are complete
•Maintain records and sampling data, including the creation, and closing of work orders when needed.
•Maintain parts inventory information, including the identification and sourcing of parts, working with possible suppliers, and coordinating with Supply Chain Services for the purchase of the correct parts.
•Prepare new vehicles and equipment for in-fleet service.
Other Responsibilities
•Provide support for other departments when needed.
•Train new employees on Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) topics and assist with test prep when needed.
•Maintain a culture of safety within the department. Support the Utility’s safety programs, complete training appropriate for the position, and provide safe working conditions and practices.
•Maintain a culture of continuous improvement within the department. Utilize lean principles and other continuous improvement tools in an effort to maximize the efficiency of the department.
•Other duties as assigned.
