Job Summary
Under the direction of the Production Supervisor, the Fitter/Welder position is responsible for welding, fitting and joining, fabricating, and repairing metal and other weldable material.
For large or specialized projects, fitter/ welders are mainly involved with laying out and assembling subunits or units of materials which they would then weld into position.
The position is responsible for ensuring the product is fitted and welded to the specifications of each job and the outlined requirements consistent with production of quality UT passable welds.
The fitter welders specialize in fitting and welding transmission power poles, substation A-Frames, High mast poles, Highway sign poles and other tubular structures and have specific experience related to reading blueprints.
Education And Experience
High School Diploma or GED,
1 - 5 years fabrication experience
1-2 Years Fitter And Welder Experience Required
Must be able to read and interpret blueprints
Must be able to work as a member of a team
Qualifications
Overhead and Jib crane experience is required
Knowledge of welding concepts, practices and procedures
Knowledge and understanding of welding symbols and diagrams
Knowledge of how to use temperature sticks and welding fillet gauges
Knowledge of how to use an Overhead and Jib Crane
Thorough knowledge of welding equipment, including but not limited to, torches, torch tips, and Air Arc
Skill in reading blueprints, and/or other printed instructional material in the welding of products or parts of welding symbols
Must maintain proficiency and pass a 2G test, T-Joint test, and Carbon Air Arc test
Ability to weld with flux core and metal core wire
Ability to work in extreme temperatures (sometimes due to season)
Ability to report to work as scheduled and maintain good attendance
Ability to work 1^st^ or 2^nd^ Shift, as needed
Ability to work overtime, as needed
