Our Baseplant Emergency Services Team is looking for an Emergency Response Officer to join the team!
Key Accountabilities:
•Reporting to the Emergency Coordinator, the ERO performs basic duties relating to fire, medical, rescue and hazmat according to standard practices and procedures
•Responds to all downgrading incidents as a member of a team under the supervision of a Level 2 ERO, Senior Emergency Response Officer and/or Emergency Coordinator
•Performs assigned tasks as required to support the Emergency Action Plan
•Provides medical assessment and treatment within the boundaries of their EMT, Paramedic or RN Protocols
•Supports the Training Group and Treatment Room Group as requested and assigned
•Performs Level 1 (housekeeping inspections) on property assets
•Must be able to independently collect and analyze comprehensive information applying basic professional judgment with guidance on complex issues
•During emergency operations the ERO must have the ability to follow direction and execute tactics. The successful candidate must have the knowledge and ability to evaluate the effectiveness of their tactics, communicate status and make necessary recommendations to the Sector Leader and/or Emergency Coordinator to help ensure the most effective and safe approach to all downgrading incidents
•Independently provide initial response including size up and conduct immediate mitigation tactics
•High level of knowledge and ability to interpret relevant response, medical and operational guidelines, protocols and policy & procedures
Minimum Requirements:
•Qualified NFPA 1001 Fire Fighter with basic technical knowledge and experience (1 – 3 years of experience)
•Qualified Emergency Medical Technician or Paramedic or Registered Nurse with basic technical knowledge and experience (1-3 years of experience)
•Registered to practice with the required governing body having jurisdiction (i.e. AB EMT & Paramedics registered with ACP, AB RN registered with CARNA)
•Certification and/or equivalent experience in 1 of the following areas: Dangerous Goods - NFPA 472 Ops, Fire Dept. Vehicles Driver/Operator - NFPA 1002, Rope Rescue - NFPA 1006 Rescue Technician, Wild Land Fire Fighting - NFPA 1051
•Certified in Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and International Trauma Life Support (ITLS)
•Paramedic / RN certified in Advanced Cardiac Live Support (ACLS)
•Alberta Class 3 Operators License with Air Brake endorsement
•Certified as a Breath Alcohol Technician and in Drug Urine Screening and Collection (EMTA Firebag site, EMTP or RN)
•Required to successfully pass the yearly Emergency Services Fitness Test
Location and Other Information:
•This opportunity is at our Base plant site in Fort McMurray, AB
•You will work a 3 days, 3 nights on and 6 days off shift
•This is a safety sensitive role
