In order to deliver great performance to our internal and external customers we have identified four main skill areas required of our employees. The following are the minimum occupational qualifications needed in each category to enhance chances for success.
Avantech believes in offering a safe and healthful work environment. Therefore the company requires pre-employment drug screens and allows reasonable suspicion drug and alcohol testing.
Must be able to lift 50 pounds in a safe manner and be able to spend 75% of your time in a standing position. Must be comfortable in maneuvering large molds of several hundred pounds using various material handling equipment including but not limited to pallet jacks, fork lifts, overhead cranes and gib cranes. Must have knowledge or be willing to learn MIG and TIG welding as well as plasma cutting of aluminum castings. Must be experienced in the operation of various manual, pneumatic and electric tools including but not limited to drills, radial drills, cutoff saws, turbo grinders, DA sanders, flat sanders and all types of hand tools.
High School degree (not GED) with emphasis in the trades plus some post-secondary education preferably in welding and/or machine trades. Lacking the formal education must have equivalent experience. Must have reading skills to at least the 12th grade level and be able to communicate effectively in words and writing so others can easily understand. Must be able to use the basic math skills of addition, subtraction multiplication and division and use these skills to process numerical data from blueprints and job packets.
Must demonstrate a positive attitude and behavior by dealing with people in a positive manner. Must be able to set effective goals and demonstrate the ability to meet them. Must work in a safe manner as described in company safety SOP’s and show a willingness to participate in safety activities. Must be adaptable and show a willingness to work at different tasks in and out of the finish department and be able to learn new skills.
Must be able to work in a team setting and understand the methods of communication required by team dynamics. Must be willing to accept constructive feedback and voice your opinion in a constructive manner. Must be willing to participate in the various projects and tasks that present themselves and show a willingness to lead such projects and task forces.
