SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES : This class is responsible for supervising, coordinating, planning, prioritizing workers engaged in accounting activities in the Finance Division. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, testing performing professional level accounting functions; supervising work involving special assignments; reviewing work methods, processes/procedures/fiscal functions; reversing/correcting accounting entries; manage the preparation and distribution of internal financial statements and reports ; making projections/modifications/journal entries; responding to technical/procedural questions; assisting with inventory/fixed assets records; auditing various forms/records/reports; verifying data/information; coordinate the company’s annual audit with independent auditors which includes managing the year end closing process, drafting the annual ACFR and staying current with applicable GAAP and GASB standards. This class is also responsible for computing depreciation; designing/producing data/information via computer spreadsheets; maintaining system for active collateral; manage monthly closing process, including reconciliation and analyzing financial records/reports/ information; reconciling general ledger account balances to supporting documentation; investigating discrepancies, if any; taking corrective action as approved by supervision; reviewing schedules; maintaining account control of major expense classifications such as insurance/legal fees. Collect data from various reports and submit to regulatory agencies to ensure industry compliance. Supervision is exercised over any regularly or temporarily assigned personnel to maintain the integrity of the financial reporting process and internal controls. Operating under general supervision, latitude is allowed for the exercise of independent judgement in planning and coordinating the details of the work. Performs related work as required.
FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Thorough knowledge of safety rules/regulations/ procedures, as appropriate; thorough knowledge of accounting concepts/principles/practices; thorough knowledge of PWC processes/procedures; good knowledge of computer software applications, including MS Word, Excel; good knowledge of supervisory concepts and practices; skill in using computers and applicable software applications; skill in accurately performing mathematical computations with moderate speed; ability to interpret and apply accounting/fiscal laws/rules/ regulations to fiscal operations; ability to analyze/correct financial problems/accounting errors;; ability to prepare/compile data; ability to perform accounting functions with accuracy/completeness; ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; ability to research, plan, coordinate, schedule, project, and prioritize work; ability to prepare and maintain reports and records; ability to supervise people and multiple projects; ability to maintain effective working relationships with customers, the general public, all levels of employees, officials, and contractors.
Graduation from a four (4) year accredited university/college with a Bachelor’s Degree in business, accounting, finance, auditing or a related field and a minimum of three (5) years of progressively responsible experience in accounting, auditing, or related field with supervisory or lead worker responsibilities; OR
Graduation from an accredited two (2) year community/technical college with a major in accounting or a related field and a minimum of nine (9) years of experience as defined in (A) above, OR
An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience as defined in (A), (B), above .
