The Company: Urbix, Inc. is a U.S.-based developer of graphite processing technology. Our proprietary, sustainable process produces high-performance anode materials for lithium-ion batteries used in electric vehicles (EVs) and other electrification applications.
Job Summary: Urbix is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Financial Controller to establish a disciplined financial control environment and ensure accurate, timely reporting during a period of significant transition and growth. Reporting directly to the CFO, you will be responsible for leading core accounting functions, overseeing internal controls, and ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP and regulatory requirements. You will play a critical role in building out processes that support our pilot operations in Mesa, Arizona, and scaling toward the delivery of our first greenfield commercial facility.
- Lead the accounting function, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Oversee all general ledger activities, reconciliations, and journal entries
- Establish and maintain robust internal controls, policies, and procedures to safeguard assets and ensure compliance
- Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and treasury processes
- Support ERP implementation, ensuring proper integration of procurement, operations, and finance workflows
- Oversee preparation of management reports, cash flow forecasts, and variance analysis to support decision-making
- Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP, tax regulations, and audit requirements; manage relationships with external auditors and advisors
- Partner with the CFO and FP&A team to provide insight into financial performance, budgets, and long-term forecasts
- Build and mentor a small accounting team, setting high standards for accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement
- 8–15 years of progressive accounting and controllership experience, ideally in industrial, manufacturing, or capital-intensive sectors
- Experience at an audit and accounting firm and CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or equivalent professional qualification strongly preferred
- Proven ability to design and enforce internal controls and financial governance in a scaling business
- Hands-on experience with ERP systems (or ERP implementations), with strong Excel and analytical skills
- Demonstrated ability to prepare GAAP and IFRS-compliant financial statements and manage external audits
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally
- Comfortable working in a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment with multiple competing priorities
