Job Overview We are seeking an experienced Field Superintendent to oversee construction projects from inception to completion. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in construction management, with expertise in project scheduling, budgeting, and quality control. This role requires a hands-on approach and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while ensuring compliance with safety regulations and project specifications.
- Oversees daily construction operations and ensure efficient use of resources, including labor, materials, and equipment.
- Leads and manages the on-site construction team, subcontractors, and laborers, ensuring all work is performed according to project specifications.
- Enforces safety protocols, conducts regular safety meetings, and ensures adherence to OSHA regulations and other safety standards.
- Inspects work to ensure it meets the specified quality standards and conforms to project plans and specifications.
- Develops and maintains daily work schedules, ensuring the project progresses as planned and addressing any delays or setbacks promptly.
- Ensures that materials and equipment are available and delivered on time to prevent work delays.
- Addresses and resolves any on-site issues related to construction, personnel, or client concerns, and escalates as necessary.
- Maintains accurate field records, including daily logs, progress reports, change orders, and as-built drawings.
- Collaborates with project managers, engineers, and clients to communicate progress, challenges, and any changes to the project scope or schedule.
- Assists in tracking project costs, identify any variances, and recommends corrective actions to stay within budget.
- Provides regular updates on construction status, safety, and quality control to project managers and senior management.
- Ensures the site complies with all required inspections, permits, and regulatory requirements.
- High school diploma or equivalent; a degree in construction management, engineering, or related field is preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in the construction field, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role. Experience in [specific industry type, e.g., commercial, residential, infrastructure] preferred.
- Strong understanding of construction methods, techniques, and best practices. Familiarity with building codes, regulations, and industry standards.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate teams, including subcontractors and laborers, to meet project goals.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for reporting, coordinating, and resolving issues with various stakeholders.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities to address challenges that arise on-site.
- Proficient with construction management software (e.g., Procore, Buildertrend, MS Project) and basic office software (e.g., MS Excel, Word).
- OSHA 30 certification required; other safety certifications (e.g., First Aid/CPR) preferred. A project management certification (e.g., PMP) is a plus.
