The Field Service Mechanic plays a vital role in ensuring our utility construction crews have safe, reliable, well-maintained equipment to keep operations running effectively. This position is responsible for servicing and repairing a variety of heavy equipment, including bucket trucks, digger trucks, backhoes, dump trucks, fleet pickups, and more. As a technician, you will travel extensively to various project sites, providing on-site maintenance and support. This role requires frequent overnight travel and the ability to work independently in the field.
General responsibilities:
•Perform all repairs per industry standards and/or manufacturer manuals.
•Perform asset inspections and repairs when not working on scheduled work.
•Communicate with the Maintenance Supervisor regarding the cause of equipment failures, unit out-of-service, and daily schedule compliance.
•Ensure proper/required parts are on hand prior to beginning repairs.
•Ensure both Company-owned and personally-owned tools are always in good working order.
•Communicate effectively with Foremen and Operators regarding equipment repairs.
•Wear proper PPE and follow all established safety procedures.
•Ensure that shop equipment and conditions are maintained at required safe levels.
Qualifications
Preferred:
•State of Michigan certified Heavy Equipment Mechanic
•5 years of experience working on heavy and aerial equipment which includes bucket trucks, digger trucks, backhoes, dump trucks, fleet pick-ups, and more
•Experience with computer applications.
