For the last 25 years, Gator Boring has maintained a fleet of Directional Drills, focusing on providing communities across the Southeast with water, power, and sewer through trenchless installations. We are seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our team as we continue to serve the Southeast with machines that are well maintained and ready to work.
Duties
•Perform routine maintenance and repairs on heavy equipment, including directional drills, mixing systems, and miscellaneous support equipment such as excavators and backhoes.
•Diagnose mechanical issues, create parts lists, and communicate schedule for repairs.
•Conduct inspections to ensure compliance with manufacturer, DOT, and OSHA regulations.
•Repair or replace defective parts, including hydraulic components and pump parts.
•Perform repairs in both a shop and field setting as needed.
•Maintain accurate records of repairs and maintenance performed on equipment.
•Weld components as necessary to ensure structural integrity and functionality.
Requirements
•Proven experience as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic or similar role.
•Strong knowledge of diesel engine maintenance practices and pumps.
•Proficiency in using hand tools, diagnostic tools, and welding equipment safely.
•Ability to read technical manuals and schematics for troubleshooting purposes.
•Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
•Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
•Valid driver's license and ability to access DOD installations; additional certifications related to heavy machinery are a plus.
•Willingness to learn new skills and adapt to changing technologies in the field.
