Stout Excavating Group (SEG) is a progressive contractor that performs mining and civil construction services in multiple states across the United States.
SEG companies are currently seeking Field Safety Specialists to become valuable members of our expanding team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in ensuring the safety and well-being of our employees by providing exceptional safety and health guidance. Additionally, you will be responsible for implementing and maintaining safety programs both within our organization and with external partners. Your efforts will greatly contribute to fostering a positive and proactive behavior based safety culture that prioritizes the well-being of all individuals involved.
Tasks/Responsibilities
•Be the tactical point of contact responsible for SEG’s Safety and Health Program.
•Uphold a positive working relationship with fellow employees, management, customers, and vendors by acting and communicating in a manner that embodies SEG’s guiding principles so that an atmosphere of professionalism is constantly present.
•Maintain accurate records of employee training, employee health monitoring, and MSHA/OSHA reporting.
•Hold pre-start safety meetings, toolbox meetings, and safety stand downs on an as needed basis.
•Ensure project personnel complete a daily JSA at the work front prior to starting a task.
•Evaluate safe work procedures and ensure compliance with MSHA, OSHA, State, Federal, and local regulations.
•Identify, develop, and communicate best practices and lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce work process risks and raise health and safety awareness.
•Conduct and lead risk assessments to identify and control exposures to workplace hazards.
•Support management and safety personnel in reporting and investigating of incidents, near miss events, and other events to ensure accurate information is communicated.
•Interview employees to obtain information about work environments and workplace incidents.
•Conduct on-site inspections and audits.
•Provide initial site-specific safety and health orientations to all project personnel, including subcontractors.
•Review plans and specifications for construction to determine safety requirements.
•Report incidents and/or injuries in accordance with regulatory standards and/or company policies and procedures
•Stay up to date on new safety regulations and initiatives.
•Assist in corrective action development and implementation.
•Facilitate training to include material development, curriculum design and delivery.
•Consults with management, employee representatives, and other agencies regarding industrial health problems and solutions.
•Job may be performed at multiple sites, with 50% travel within local sites, some overnight stay may be required.
Skills/Qualifications:
•MSHA/OSHA Safety Management or equivalent, required.
•A minimum of 1+ years MSHA/OSHA Field Safety experience.
•General knowledge of heavy equipment preferred.
•Strong presentation, verbal, and written communication skills.
•Ability to maintain accurate reports and generate complete, timely reports.
•Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products preferred.
•Demonstrate good judgment, initiative, and ability to properly address safety issues.
•Strong leadership and proactive problem-solving skills.
•Ability to travel when necessary.
•Ability to collaborate and work effectively as a team.
•Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.
