The Operational HSSE discipline partners with the Businesses to achieve Goal Zero by providing them with overall safety support and to ensure delivery of effective HSSE management processes. The discipline includes:
•HSE Generalists, who do general HSSE management and 'integrate' expertise from the various HSSE & SP disciplines without being necessarily experts themselves in these disciplines
•Specialists in the management of the safety risks and barriers associated with Road and Operational hazards
•Specialists delivering support to the Businesses and to the HSSE and SP disciplines in the fundamental areas of Behavioral HSSE, Contractor HSSE Management, Emergency Response, Incident Investigation and Learning, and Product Stewardship
What’s the role
The Field Safety Representative is a member of the Deer Park Safety Department, and is primarily responsible for providing Health, Safety & Environmental support and technical advice to their designated Operations and Maintenance Areas.
These responsibilities are demonstrated by:
Visible HSE leadership and commitment through field presence, auditing, IH monitoring, walk-the-talk, and positive intervention. Working with others in the department to maintain consistency of interpretations and regulatory understanding. Understanding and applying the HSE management system to work activities. Addressing compliance and/or assurance issues. Actively participating in the Emergency Response Organization and ACE Program (Behavior Based Safety Program).
You will also be responsible for the following duties below.
Accountabilities:
•Provide HSE support to assigned areas, and advise contractors in those areas (e.g., permitting and lock out/tag out consultation, compliance questions, implementation of H&S Orders, Environmental support and addressing fire protection)
•Audit the permitting process; assist/consult with permit writers
•Provide training on such topics as Permitting, Process Isolation, Respiratory Protection
•Do daily walkthroughs of operating and maintenance areas
•Be involved with safety planning of major maintenance and Turnaround activities
•Attend support area department meetings
•Function as Subject Matter Expert for assigned H&S Orders and Work Procedures, which include updating the procedures, providing interpretations, and developing training
•Provide Industrial Hygiene support to assigned work areas including sampling, investigating exposure concerns, providing reports to management with recommendations
•Be a member of the Fire Department and Command or Safety Officer Staff, attend all necessary training to maintain qualifications
•Respond to site emergencies 24-7
•Participate in special projects, problem-solving teams, site safety teams, or safety improvement initiatives. With sufficient skills and experience, take on special assignments to support the site. Conduct unit HSE audits and assist in external unit audits
What we need from you
•Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
•You must have a minimum of 3 years’ experience in the Petrochemical industry, including an extended period in an operational environment
•High school Diploma is preferred
•Knowledge of permit to work process is required
•Knowledge of lock out tag out process
•Knowledge of HSE investigation and causal learning thinking is preferred
•Deliver HSE assurance by motivating and coaching Shell and contractor colleagues
•Display personal effectiveness
•Coaching employees and contractors on compliance with safety policies and procedures
•You must be a team player
•Able to manage multiple stakeholders. (Production org, Asset org, HSE site team, Site Contractors, etc.)
•Deliver HSE assurance by motivating and coaching Shell and contractor colleagues

•Provide leadership to ensure compliance to the Health and Safety work processes to improve overall performance of non-routine activities
•Must be a “people person” and comfortable with interacting with others and speaking in front of various audiences

What we offer
The base salary range for this position is $101, 000 - $151, 000 per year. Individual pay will be based on various factors, such as relevant work experience, education, certifications, skill level, seniority, and internal equity.
For regular full-time or regular part-time employees of the Company (participating companies as listed in the Summary Plan Description), insurance coverage options include medical, dental, vision coverage, life Insurance, Business Travel Accident Insurance, and Occupational Accidental Death Benefit programs. Employees also participate in a company pension plan and a 401(k) plan. Paid leave includes up to 6 weeks of paid vacation time, up to 11 paid holidays, and parental leave offering 16 weeks of paid leave for birthing parents, and 8 weeks of paid leave for non-birthing parents.
Additionally, employees are eligible for short-term disability leave for up to 26 weeks at 100% or 50% of base pay as well as Long-Term Disability insurance. Shell also offers other compensation such financial reimbursement for adoption, wellness, education, and personal learning expenses, and some roles are eligible for discretionary long-term incentives. For interns, eligible benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage, life insurance, Business Travel Accident Insurance, and Occupational Accidental Death Benefit programs; participation in a 401(k) plan; and paid leave for up to 11 paid holidays.
