Job Description:
The Field Operations & Safety Manager at Lovett Deconstruction is responsible for overseeing all aspects of safety compliance while managing and continuously improving field operations. This role directly supervises our Deconstructionists, focusing on clear communication, team development, and the successful execution of projects from start to finish. The ideal candidate brings a balanced approach to managing people, delivering training, and enforcing policies—ensuring both accountability and support across the team. Key responsibilities include coordinating initial and ongoing crew training, providing timely feedback, and maintaining a strong on-site presence to ensure both safety and efficiency. This role requires someone who is proactive, detail-oriented, and skilled at leading a diverse team with varying needs, communication styles, and motivations. This position plays a critical part in fostering a safe, productive, and cohesive work environment.
Responsibilities & Duties:
General
•Align field operations & personnel management with company goals and project objectives.
•Coordinate with internal teams for efficient scheduling & project execution.
•Continuously improve systems through observation, industry research, giving & receiving feedback, and data analysis.
•Maintain and update SOPs to reflect evolving best practices in collaboration with Leads, Operations Manager, and Project Managers.
•Ensure field work meets company standards for quality, safety, and efficiency.
•Design and implement trainings to support operational improvements.
Personnel Supervision
•Deliver weekly SOP and systems training for Deconstruction team.
•Develop, coordinate and conduct onboarding and training programs for new Deconstruction team hires and promoted team members.
•Use communication and reporting tools to teach best practices, set clear expectations and monitor performance.
•Conduct performance reviews, wage evaluations, and provide ongoing feedback.
•Foster open communication via check-ins, surveys, and all-team events.
•Enforce company policies and issue disciplinary actions or dismissal processes, as needed.
Safety
•Conduct regular jobsite safety inspections.
•Ensure team has proper training, PPE, and safety awareness.
•Investigate close calls & incidents and manage worker’s comp reporting & documentation.
•Consult with management on safety issues, policies, and procedures
•Collect, review, store, and distribute lead RRP paperwork.
•Update and maintain Safety Manual.
•Manage and document Respiratory Program.
•Ensure compliance with OSHA and all internal safety policies and programs
•Administer noise exposure compliance program.
•Manage safety kits, fire extinguisher checks, and MSDS documentation.
•Administer and document Forklift and other safety-related training
Operations
•Oversee fleet maintenance, insurance, and compliance with DOT and DEQ.
•Manage company phones and communication tools.
•Support field needs with material/tool deliveries as required.
Procurement
•Maintain inventory of field and safety supplies.
•Track fall protection equipment distribution and procurement.
•Source vendors and recommend tool/equipment purchases.
Experience, Skills, and Qualifications
•Minimum 3+ years of experience in residential construction, with a strong understanding of job site operations & timelines.
•In-depth knowledge of construction site safety practices and regulations, including OSHA standards, risk assessments, and enforcement of safety protocols.
•Proven ability to implement and enforce site-specific safety plans, conduct toolbox checks, lead safety audits, and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local safety laws.
•Demonstrated success in crew management and team leadership, with a hands-on approach to coaching, motivating, and supporting field staff.
•Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport and foster long-term relationships with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and employees across all levels.
•Strong verbal and written communication skills, including public speaking, report writing, and in-person conflict resolution.
•Highly organized and detail-oriented with a proactive mindset toward planning, logistics, and operational efficiency.
•Skilled in prioritization, time management, and adaptive problem-solving, especially in fast-paced or high-pressure environments.
•High proficiency with IT systems and software tools, including Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace.
•Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement, employee development, and a culture of accountability.
•Knowledge of sustainability principles and environmentally responsible construction or deconstruction practices is a plus.
•Certifications such as OSHA 30-Hour, First Aid/CPR, or other safety training credentials preferred.
Relationships:
This role reports to the Operations Manager and collaborates with company owners, internal departments, clients, and vendors. Direct reports include Deconstruction Crew Members, Leads, and Trainers
Hours:
Monday through Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm, 40 hours per week.
Compensation:
Salaried full time. We evaluate our compensation offerings according to market medians and internal pay equity. The starting salary for this position is $65,000 per year with salary potential increasing depending on experience.
