Northern Strands is growing, and we're on the lookout for a passionate, detail-driven Field Labourer (Ag Terminal Services), whose primary responsibilities include installing or dismantling/repairing machinery and equipment according to company plans, blueprints, and other diagrams. This will be accomplished through the safe and effective use of hoists, lift trucks, hand tools, and power tools. Various training opportunities will be provided.
Typical projects could involve railcar progressioners, other bulk material handling equipment, mobile equipment, process equipment, battery powered mobile equipment, and mining equipment. Quality work and timely completion of all aspects of the job are required. The Field Labourer (Ag Terminal Services) works closely with and takes direction for daily tasks from the Field Supervisor.
The successful candidate must be available for regular out-of-town travel, including overnight stays for up to five (5) consecutive days. Overtime opportunities are frequently available during these assignments. Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test will be required as a condition of employment. What You’ll Be Doing
•Install equipment and systems at a variety of customer sites under the direction of the Field Supervisor
•Complete site inspections and installations of existing and new Ag Terminal equipment, including but not limited to, railcar progressioners, bucket elevators, winches, loadout spouts, etc.
•Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, or pneumatic problems with associated equipment
•Process all required paperwork and maintain adequate records for reporting, tracking, and billing
•Load and unload materials for projects
•Operate a forklift in a safe manner to move project materials
•Monitor and maintain tools, consumable, and material inventory in site trucks & trailers
•Keep stock organized, and divisions area of yard clean and orderly
•Complete tasks in accordance with the company procedures and policies for specific jobs
•Maintain safe work practices
What You Bring to the Table
•Experience in assembling, disassembling, troubleshooting, and repairing various types of machinery and equipment
•Working knowledge and experience in installing, repairing, servicing, or maintaining railcar progressioners from inland grain terminals is considered an asset
•Experience in working on mechanical equipment encountered in the grain handling industry is considered an asset
•Ability to detect, isolate and identify irregularities and malfunctions in machinery and equipment
•Demonstrate aptitude in reading and interpreting blueprints, diagrams, schematics, drawings, manuals, and specifications
•Must be physically fit and able to lift heavy loads
•Strong attention to detail
•Ability to understand and follow directions to complete work
•Ability to use judgment and apply discretion when making decisions
•Ability to work independently or as part of a team
•Strong time-management skills
•Any safety-related training and certificates would be beneficial but not required
