Under limited direction, manages the operation, repair and maintenance, and renovation of all BPUB facilities and structures, including control systems, security systems, and groundskeeping.
Responsible for the full range of supervisory activities of the Facilities Maintenance Department, including the selection, training, evaluation, counseling, and recommendation for dismissal of employees. Responsible for the day-to-day operation, maintenance, and repair of facility systems; oversees the functioning of building systems for proper operation, including but not limited to, light fixtures, fire protection and sprinkler systems, HVAC systems, power systems, and elevators. Oversees the facilities’ service providers performing grounds keeping maintenance, building maintenance, repair, or construction projects in new and existing assigned facilities. Coordinates with management on maintenance, mechanical, electrical and design elements of new construction or renovations of existing facilities. May be responsible for the oversight of contractors during these projects. Ensures that all BPUB facilities meet all relevant federal, state, and local building codes and requirements. Conducts all administrative duties for the department, including budgeting, developing bid specifications, procurement, and organizing work schedules for departmental staff to ensure adequate daily coverage of duties. Manages the security of assigned buildings, including alarm systems, issuing security access codes, communicating with law enforcement, and periodically changing locks when necessary. Assists with meeting event coordination. Ensures proper scheduling of set up and take down for meetings and company events. Completes other job duties as assigned.
Advanced knowledge of facility operation and maintenance. Thorough knowledge of the materials, methods and equipment used in facilities maintenance. Advanced knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the work. Advanced knowledge of the materials, methods and practices used in cleaning operations. Advanced knowledge of HVAC, energy management system, and fire and security system. Knowledge of Federal, State, and local laws and regulations relating to the assigned area of responsibility. Computer skills using Microsoft Office programs.Effective written and oral communication skills in English; bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.Strong organization and multi-tasking skills.Skill in planning and organizing.Ability to plan, layout, assign and supervise the work of others. Requires a Bachelor’s Degree with major course work in business, engineering, architecture, or related field and six (6) years of specialized/progressively responsible experience in supervising and directing staff, construction, renovation and maintenance of facilities, operating systems, and grounds.
An equivalent combination of appropriate education, relevant experience, and applicable industry certifications may substitute for the minimum requirements.
Requires a valid Texas Driver License or receipt of a valid Texas Driver’s License within 90 days of relocation to Texas and a safe driving record, as measured by company policy.
Certifications in facilities management, project management, energy auditing, integrated pest management, environmental auditing or a relevant field are preferred.
