GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION

Under general direction, locates underground facilities using underground locating equipment; performs related work as required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Locates water, electric and cable/telecommunications underground facilities within allotted time.

2. Maintains an effective records system for BUD (Before You Dig or Kentucky 811) requests, including use of video recording and/or photography as appropriate.

3. Trains additional personnel as needed.

4. Collects data and prepares documents as instructed.

5. Assists the Engineering Departments in additional related tasks as needed, including line location, mapping, and reading blueprints.

6. Attends safety and other seminars on a regular basis.

7. Makes simple measurements and computations.

8. Maintains good public relations at all times.

9. Educates the public on BUD procedures.

10. Communicates with in-house contacts to resolve problems and avoid hazardous situations or damage to Plant Board facilities.

11. Cleans vehicle and equipment after use.

12. Maintains vehicle in accordance with preventive maintenance program.

13. Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty mentioned satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

High school or GED, plus 2 years related locator experience. Must possess and maintain a valid Kentucky driver's license.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.34 - $30.51 per hour
