Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Diesel Mechanic to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of diesel engines and heavy-duty vehicles/equipment. This role requires a strong understanding of diesel systems, a meticulous approach to problem-solving, and a commitment to safety and quality workmanship.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance and preventative inspections on diesel engines and heavy-duty vehicles/equipment (e.g., trucks, trailers, construction equipment, generators, hydraulic, etc.).
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues using diagnostic software, specialized tools, and established troubleshooting procedures.
- Conduct complex repairs including, but not limited to, engine overhauls, transmission and differential replacements, brake system repairs, suspension work, and exhaust system maintenance.
- Troubleshoot and repair complex electrical systems, including wiring, sensors, and electronic control modules (ECMs).
- Perform DPF/SCR system diagnostics, maintenance, and repair, including forced regenerations and component replacement.
- Utilize shop manuals, schematics, and service bulletins to ensure accurate and efficient repairs.
- Complete work orders, document all repairs, parts used, and time spent accurately and legibly using [e.g., computer-based maintenance systems, paper records].
- Communicate effectively with leadership and team members regarding repair status, repair needs, and estimated completion times.
- Adhere to all safety protocols, company policies, and environmental regulations.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Stay current with industry advancements, new technologies, and diagnostic tools through ongoing training and professional development.
- Potentially assist with roadside assistance or field service calls if applicable.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Associate's Degree in Diesel Technology or a related field from an accredited technical school highly preferred.
- [4] years of verifiable experience as a Diesel Mechanic working on [e.g., Class 8 trucks, construction equipment, light-duty diesels].
- ASE Certifications (e.g., Medium-Heavy Duty Truck, Engine Repair, Brakes, Electrical/Electronic Systems, Drivetrain) are highly preferred; willingness to obtain within a specified timeframe is a plus.
- Proficiency with diagnostic software and tools (e.g., Cummins Insite, Detroit Diagnostic Link, CAT ET, JPRO, TEXA, Diesel Laptops etc.).
- Strong knowledge of diesel engine components, electrical systems, air brake systems, hydraulic systems, and drivelines.
- Ability to read and interpret schematics, technical manuals, and diagnostic codes.
- Possession of a complete set of mechanic's tools appropriate for diesel repair.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record required. CDL Class A or B is a significant advantage.

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be able to lift heavy objects, stand for extended periods, bend, stoop, and work in various weather conditions.
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds regularly.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, crouch, and kneel for extended periods.
- Manual dexterity and fine motor skills for intricate repairs.
- Ability to work in various environmental conditions, including noise, dust, and temperature extremes.
