Primary Purpose
Leads, trains, and develops a team of experienced workplace investigators responsible for investigating complaints involving alleged violations of laws, regulations, company policies (including those prohibiting discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and workplace bullying), and the company's Code of Conduct. Coordinates the resolution of investigations conducted by external investigators, including following up with named parties and other witnesses regarding the investigator's factual findings and conclusions and communicating results to internal stakeholders to ensure appropriate corrective action where necessary. Manages a caseload of complex and high-profile investigations, working both autonomously and collaboratively with fellow team members, business leaders, Human Resources, Labor Relations, Internal Audit, Corporate Security, and Legal, and regularly interacts with employees at all levels to build understanding, transparency, and trust around the company's Investigation function.
Duties And Responsibilities
•Conducts formal and informal investigations, with a focus on complex or high-profile investigations.
•Performs prompt, thorough, and fair investigations from intake to completion.
•Determines investigative findings and provides recommendations for corrective action.
•Drafts detailed investigation reports, as well as other documents and correspondence related to the investigations.
•Communicates effectively with individuals involved in investigation matters, including witnesses, managers, and HR teams that support individuals during the investigation and post-investigation processes.
•Prepares executive summaries and provides appropriate updates about investigations to management and legal.
•Supervises Workplace Investigators
•Trains, coaches, counsels, and advises internal workplace investigators.
•Reviews and revises all investigation reports and provides real-time feedback to workplace investigators.
•Manages investigative resources and budget levels to meet strategic objectives and operational needs.
•Advice, Counseling, and Training
•Drives impact by helping the company create and sustain a compliance-oriented culture.
•Provides advice and consultation for leaders and employees in support of continuous improvement related to issues identified in investigations.
•Works with internal teams to develop and deliver compliance education programs and trainings.
•Identifies and Recommends Process Improvements
•Supports and promotes continuous improvement to the investigation process
•Evaluates change management for internal practices
•Performs other duties as assigned (no more than 5% of duties).
Qualifications
Hybrid Schedule
•Although the schedule may vary, typically this will allow the employee to work onsite three days per week and remotely on the remaining workdays.
•Must reside in Southern California or be willing to relocate upon hire.
Required Qualifications
•Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, psychology, audit, business management, or other related field.
•8+ years experience conducting investigations, preferably at a private or publicly-traded company, or equivalent case-management, fact-finding, and analytical experience.
•3+ years people leader experience.
•Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact and communicate effectively with employee-witnesses, members of management, and others during investigations.
•Ability to easily develop trust and rapport and influence partners and business leaders.

Preferred Qualifications
•JD (Juris Doctor) Currently licensed California attorneys with a background in employment law and/or employee relations. Attorneys admitted in other states or outside the U.S. will be considered.
•Association of Workplace Investigators AWI-CH certificate holders, or other investigation-based formalized education or certification from other organizations.
