Position Description – Estimator


Reports to: Stephanie Miller


Department: Estimating

Key Contacts: GC/customers, Sales, Estimating, Finance, Administration, Project Management

Direct Reports: Stephanie Miller and Ed Palmedo – Regional Manager

Indirect Reports: Nick Karasek – Business Development


Location: Sterling, VA – Mid-Atlantic Region


Main Purpose:

Estimators will be tasked with qualitative and quantitative estimating on Wall Protection and Wall Panel Scopes, mainly in the industry Healthcare, Higher Education, Large Scale Hospitality, Research, and Bio-Pharma sectors.


Key Responsibilities/ Duties:


· Estimating Platform for On-screen Take offs


· Composing Proposal for projects Estimated.

· Submits proposals to General Contractors (GCs) through MS Outlook and other online portals and Building Connected.

· Maintains accurate data by logging bid details accurately

· Scan documents and keep the electronic folder up to date pertaining to a specific job.


Required Outcomes:

· MS Word (using keyboard shortcuts, print-to-pdf, etc.)


· MS Excel a MUST


· PlanSwift Platform a PLUS


· BlueBeam Platform a PLUS


· AutoCAD a PLUS

· Web applications; ability to intuitively navigate many websites, webmail, and other apps


Quality

· Investigations completed, providing recommendations on, processing and technical issues.

· Ensure changes are implemented and appropriate personnel trained.

· Where required, act as a liaison to other departments and customers.


· Complete investigations into customer QC issues.

· Assist with ensuring the relevant Quality System is up to date and reflects current practices. Ensure the quality of project information is accurate.


Process and Documentation

· Apply relevant processes to ensure standard procedures are followed.

· Maintaining and using correct Change Order Rates when providing to customers.


· Documentation is updated regularly

· Processes and procedures are streamlined for efficiency and consistency


Health & Safety

· Safe and healthy work practices are to be maintained at all times in the warehouses.

· Any unsafe practice is to be reported immediately, hazards identified, and resolutions assigned performed when required.

· Must show a commitment to accurate reporting and recording of workplace accidents and injuries.

· Must show commitment to maintaining safe and healthy work practices.


· Must lead by example.

· Must understand requirements of self and others to maintain a safe and healthy workplace.

· Minimal accidents occur, hazards are identified and corrective action is taken within work area as per the requirements and obligations under law.

· Efforts are focussed on achieving the required targets for projects.

· Look for and encourage others to look for duties to be completed during periods of quietness.

· Assist other team units when there are periods of quiet time.

· Suggest updates to practices and procedures via appropriate channels.

Additional Information/Requirements of the role:

· The position requires flexibility in terms of working hours and the nature of the work. Other duties are required to be carried out as requested.

· Because the position has a range of responsibilities, frequent conflicting requests and initiatives will occur. It is essential that the incumbent is able to deal with these according to agreed priorities and service levels; and alert their Manager promptly where conflicting priorities are unable to be resolved.

· The position may require travel and contact with customers and suppliers. The incumbent must demonstrate the capacity to effectively represent the company in terms of presentation and the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people.

· Ability to communicate, with and acquire respect from a wide range of people, including but not limited to; Health and Safety Committee Members, Finance Team, Warehouse Team, Project Management Team, Suppliers and the Miller Group leadership team.

Job Type: Full-time


Pay: $70,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
