Description of Position
The Estimator will lead activities associated with multiple prospective projects simultaneously during the preconstruction phase of primarily negotiated multifamily construction projects.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
•Ensure enforcement / compliance of CF Evans Construction’s corporate safety, quality, and schedule / production management programs, as well as lead and direct project planning and customer service programs for projects. Foster and ensure cooperative and collaborative internal and external partner relationships.
•Lead and / or perform portions of estimates for projects including understanding scope and performing accurate quantity surveys.
•Prepare quantity take-offs, cost estimates, and budgets from concept through final design.
•Participate in bid reviews, client meetings, and project handoff to the operations team.
•Solicit, evaluate, and manage subcontractor and vendor negotiations.
•Ability to build relationships with owners, architects, and subcontractors.
•Demonstrate support of project teams throughout the preconstruction process including budgeting, estimating, scheduling, value analysis, and design management; Provide Value Engineering options as necessary.
•Coordinate pricing efforts with the construction services teams and the Safety Manager for construction assemblies and logistics.
•Develop or further enhance phasing and sequencing plans, in consultation with Operations.
Requirements of the Position
•Education & Certification: 4-year engineering or construction management degree preferred; OSHA 30 completion card preferred.
•Recommended Work Experience: 5-10 years of relevant construction estimating experience; Multifamily construction industry experience a plus; Experience in Timberline Estimating, Procore, Bluebeam, Building Connected, and Excel preferred.
•Physical Demands: Prolonged standing, sitting, walking, climbing, balancing, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching (with arms and hands), handling, talking, hearing, depth perception, lifting, vision (close, peripheral, depth, ability to adjust focus), and lifting/moving up to 35+ pounds
•Working Conditions: Regular, local, and regional travel to project sites, clients, and meetings required; Project site conditions vary and are affected by local weather; Must be able to safely navigate project locations during various stages of construction; Often work with teams in temporary offices, under stressful conditions, and outside normal business hours.
