ES&H Technician III - Occupational Safety

Position Overview

Under general supervision, performs Occupational Safety oversight of field work in industrial and construction environments. Supports management in safety planning, hazard assessment, and field implementation of OS program requirements. Duties are performed according to established procedures and do not include discretionary decision-making or direct supervision. The specific work assignment may include duties or activities to support the organization in one or more of the following functional areas:

Functional:

- Assists with Job Hazard Analysis development and review, evaluates field activities for potential exposures, and verifies proper hazard controls are implemented in compliance with DOE, OSHA, and company standards.

- Performs modestly complex quantitative and qualitative analyses, such as field sampling, testing and measuring, to determine air, ground or water pollution levels.

- Provides technical support activities in accordance with established procedures to assist in the performance of environmental monitoring and testing projects to enable operating units to comply with all environmental regulations.

- Assists in installation and set-up of complex instruments and equipment.

- Operates electronic equipment and conducts sampling with the current line of instrumentation.

- Maintains periodic inspections of equipment and performs preventative maintenance work.

- Maintains records pertinent to special sampling projects and prepares reports, charts, and spreadsheets as needed.

- Mentors and supports ES&H Technicians I & II.

- Works on special projects, as assigned.

Job Requirements

Minimum Requirements:

- High school diploma or GED.

- 5+ years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
