Western Explosives Systems Company - WESCO is a full-service drill and blast company. This is steady and sometimes fast paced work. Employees will be operating a specialized truck and working with explosives products.
Position: This Equipment Operator position will operate all types of WESCO trucks and specialty manufacturing plant equipment to prepare and deliver explosives products to customers in a safe, timely, and efficient manner.
- Pass a background check with no felonies.
- Pass a pre-employment physical and drug screening.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Be able to lift and carry up to 60 pounds.
- Drive and operate bulk/blend truck to prepare and deliver quality blasting products to customer sites.
- Operate manufacturing plant equipment.
- Operate and perform maintenance on blasting products trucks and other equipment.
- Follow all safety procedures while driving and operating equipment and while on blast sites to protect personal safety and safety of others.
- Be knowledgeable of, and comply with applicable DOT, OSHA, MSHA, EPA and BATF regulations.
- Be able to work accurately with numbers and perform simple mathematical calculations.
- Maintain safe working conditions and assure that all crew members and others on the site follow all safety and regulatory procedures and practices to ensure a safe and successful event.
- Not required but a plus to have CDL for commercial drivers with HAZMAT and Air Brakes endorsements.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands, fingers, handles, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear.
- Be able to wear personal protective equipment where required, and may require lifting of 60 lbs.
Working Environment: Working conditions are sometimes outdoors in all weather conditions of temperature and climate, or in the cab of a truck, or indoors of operating the manufacturing plant.
Schedule: Shift is generally four days on, four days off, continuously, 12-hour shifts. Schedule includes weekends and holidays. 4:30 AM to 4:30 PM. It may be necessary to modify the schedule in some circumstances.
Pay: Starting at $22 per hour and increasing to $25 per hour after 90 days based on excellent performance.
