B2Gold is a responsible international senior gold producer headquartered in Vancouver, Canada. Founded in 2007, today, B2Gold has operating gold mines in Mali, Namibia and the Philippines, the Goose Project under construction in northern Canada, and numerous development and exploration projects in various countries including Mali, Colombia and Finland.
Reporting to the Superintendent, Environment, this position will be a fly in- fly out 3x3 rotation based in Nunavut, Canada.
· Conduct environmental monitoring and sampling as per permits, licenses, and company policies. Follow standard operating procedures to ensure compliance;
· Assist in terrestrial and aquatic field programs, perform on-site sample analysis using portable analyzers, and maintain detailed field notes following QA/QC protocols;
· Complete chain of custody forms, process, pack, and ship samples. Maintain and update environmental databases and records;
· Install, calibrate, and maintain environmental monitoring and sampling equipment to ensure accurate data collection;
· Ensure adherence to environmental regulations, update documentation, and support regulatory reporting requirements;
· Assist with spill prevention, response efforts, and waste and water management programs to minimize environmental impact;
· Provide field and office support for environmental site operations, including lifting and transporting equipment like water samples, boats, and generators; and
· Follow Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) policies and environmental commitments to maintain a safe and compliant work environment.
· Three (3) years experience as an Environmental Technician, preferably in a remote mine or outdoor industrial setting;
· Post Secondary Diploma in Environmental related discipline or related field is required; Equivalent training and experience will also be considered;
· Experience with all-terrain vehicles, snowmobiles, helicopters, and boats, with the ability to work in extreme cold, high winds, and heavy precipitation;
· Experience in responding to wildlife related events (e.g., predatory animal response). Possession and Acquisition License (PAL) and Driver’s License; and
· Strong computer skills in data management, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
For informational purposes, the estimated annual earnings are $97,838.00 for 2184 scheduled hours (combined regular hourly rate of $35.50 and overtime rate of $53.25) in a work year.
