POSITION SUMMARY:
The Refining Environmental Assurance team is seeking a full-time, exempt Environmental Specialist/Engineer to provide direct support for emissions reporting to our West Coast facilities, with a strong focus on annual reports and sustainability compliance, and to lead GHG compliance efforts across all Refining and Renewables sites. This role will be responsible for assisting in the preparation and management of annual emissions reports, TRI submissions and GHG reporting, while also supporting Refining-wide sustainability reporting.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide Annual Emissions Report (AER) and Toxic Release Inventory (TRI) support to West Coast facilities as needed, ensuring accurate data collection and reporting.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local Greenhouse Gas (GHG) reporting requirements across all facilities, with a focus on California’s AB32 and Washington’s Cap-and-Invest programs.
- Manage overall GHG sustainability reporting to corporate, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Serve as the lead for third-party GHG verification audits across all facilities.
- Partner with Processing and site teams to address emissions-related needs at other Refining assets.
- Performing benchmarking to understand emission performance trends and evaluate performance.
- Ensuring data integrity to meet control, monitoring, recordkeeping, work practice, and/or reporting requirements in conformance with regulatory requirements.
- Addressing follow-up inquiries from regulatory entities pertaining to emissions compliance reports, including agency inspections.
- High School Diploma or GED required with 10 years of relevant environmental experience in process industry (e.g., refining, midstream, petrochemical, or other heavy industrial), or
- Bachelor’s degree in a HES-related field with 5 years of relevant environmental experience, or
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with 2 years of relevant environmental experience.
- Knowledge of California’s AB32 and Washinton’s Cap-and-Invest programs strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated success in supporting and leading third-party audits.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across multiple teams and facilities.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Willingness to travel as needed to provide facility support.
