Overview:

BW Gold is a wholly owned subsidiary of Artemis Gold Inc (“Artemis”). Artemis is listed on the TSX Venture exchange, and is a well-financed, growth-oriented gold development company with strong financials aimed at creating shareholder value through the identification, acquisition, and development of gold properties in mining friendly jurisdictions. Our current focus is construction of the Blackwater Mine in central British Columbia approximately 160km southwest of Prince George and 450km northeast of Vancouver.

Artemis Gold received its BC Mines Act permit for Blackwater Mine in March 2023 enabling the project to move into major works construction.

Reporting to the Environmental Technical Lead, in addition to regular reporting and seeking feedback on monitoring locations and monitoring workplans from their Nation representatives, the Environmental Monitor is responsible for monitoring water, wildlife, air quality, construction waste and salvage. This is a physical outdoors-based position which may include long hikes over rough terrain and or deep snow at times.

Location: Blackwater Mine site - located 160 km southwest of Prince George, BC.

Schedule: Two (2) Weeks On – Two (2) Weeks Off Rotation

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

•

Demonstrate effective safety leadership by addressing and enforcing BW Golds safety standards, procedures, and safety systems.

•

Participate in field activities:

+ Surface, Stream and Groundwater quality and quantity monitoring + Wildlife and vegetation assessment and monitoring + Air quality (dust), noise and vibration monitoring + Construction environmental monitoring (e.g., soil salvage, erosion and sediment control) + Fish habitat compensation projects + Aquatic effects monitoring + Environmental inspections (e.g., tailings storage facility inspections, compliance inspections)

Documentation, record keeping and report writing

•

Assist with:

+ Field data management and organization (hard copy and using a computer and electronic filing) + Standard Operating Procedure development + Independent Environmental Monitor (IEM) site inspections + Safety planning (e.g. participating in Field Level Hazard Assessments, Job Hazard Analysis) + Consultant/Contractor logistics and technical support

•

Locate environmental monitoring locations and establish new stations, as needed, using a GPS and maps

•

Regular off-road vehicle use (e.g., UTV, boat and snowmobile)

•

Lifting large coolers of water samples, generators, ice augers, etc.

•

Ensure that BW Gold environmental commitments and Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) policies are observed in all site activities

•

Conduct environmental monitoring as required by permits and according to BW Gold’s Management Plans and Standard Operating Procedures (per the Environmental Management System)

•

Conduct inspections and audits of project environmental management system (EMS) and environmental activities (e.g., waste management)

•

Follow quality assurance/quality control requirements and procedures

•

Prepare and submit samples for off-site analysis, including tracking of Chain of Custody forms and appropriate reporting periods

•

Interact and communicate effectively within a multi-disciplinary team consisting of environmental professionals, engineers, and contractors

Qualifications:

•

Previous experience with resource management (e.g., forestry, forest fire fighting), environmental monitoring/sampling (e.g., some combination of: stream/lake sampling, benthic/sediment sampling, groundwater sampling, fish sampling, stream flow measurement, vegetation identification, erosion/sedimentation monitoring), or experience in environmental or cultural resource protection.

•

Experience with data management, time management and organizational skills with ability to take clear, and concise field notes or a willingness to take further training is preferred

•

Experience in traditional ecological knowledge and/or archaeological studies is considered a strong asset, including the ability to identify vegetation and wildlife species

•

Strong orienteering and wilderness experience to access environmental monitoring locations safely

•

Intermediate computer skills (MS Word, Excel, Email and PowerPoint), or at a basic level with a keen willingness to take further training

•

Valid BC Class 5 driver’s licence

•

Safety conscious, reliable, self-starter and a team player

•

Mechanical aptitude to use off-road vehicles and environmental monitoring equipment and to troubleshoot in-the-field issues

•

Occupational and/or wilderness first aid is considered an asset

•

Physically able to travel and work in the field for extended periods in inclement weather

•

Ability to carry a backpack and or other heavy equipment (up to 50 pounds) across rough terrain
