Lisbon Valley Mining Company (LVMC) is seeking a highly experienced and knowledgeable Environmental Manager to lead and oversee all environmental aspects of our mining operation. This role requires a strong understanding of environmental regulations, permitting processes, and industry best practices, as well as the ability to provide strategic leadership in environmental management. The Environmental Manager will ensure compliance with all applicable environmental laws and regulations, develop and implement environmental management plans, and collaborate with various stakeholders to achieve sustainable mining practices.
· Responsible for LVMC permitting strategy in coordination with the General Manager, ensuring compliance with all LVMC permits and bond maintenance.
· Secure new permit authorizations for various projects.
· Act as the primary point of contact for all regulatory agencies, including the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), Division of Oil, Gas, and Mining (DOGM), and Utah Department of Environmental Quality (UDEQ).
· Advise LVMC on bond maintenance, concurrent reclamation, and related matters.
· Collaborate with mine management on mine life and ensure environmental considerations are integrated into the planning process.
· Collaborate with geotechnical engineers on pit wall analysis for both existing and future pits, ensuring the stability and environmental integrity of the pit walls.
· Collaborate with LVMC management to maintain the company's land position and anticipate future land needs, ensuring alignment with environmental regulations and sustainability goals.
· Advise LVMC on water right maintenance and new water right authorizations, ensuring the company's water use is compliant and sustainable.
· Serve as the main point of contact for environmental vendors, coordinating their work and ensuring it meets LVMC's environmental standards.
· Manage the environmental budget, including consultant contracts.
· Collaborate with various stakeholders, including regulatory agencies and local communities, to maintain positive relationships and address environmental concerns related to LVMC's operations.
· Supervise and mentor environmental staff, providing guidance and support in their daily tasks and professional development.
· Collaborate effectively with environmental consultants, ensuring their expertise is leveraged to meet LVMC’s environmental objectives.
· B.S. in Environmental Engineering, Mining Engineering, Geology, or a related field.
· 5+ years of experience in environmental management within the mining industry.
· Proven experience with permitting processes and regulatory compliance.
· Proficient in data analysis and report writing.
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
· Proficient in the use of Excel, Outlook, and Word, with experience using computer-based engineering software, preferably Vulcan and AutoCAD.
· Experience in the use of mining software packages.
· Good interpersonal and leadership skills with strong emotional intelligence.
· Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and coordination skills are essential for success in this role.
· Proficient ability in problem-solving and strong analytical skills.
· Strong ability to influence, persuade, and motivate individuals or groups to achieve desired outcomes in a professional and morally ethical way.
· Able to interact with all levels of staff at the mine site.
