The
Safety & Environment Managerleads our Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) programs
across PSS Industrial Group’s distribution branches, warehouses, and fleet operations. You’ll design and sustain practical, field-ready systems that keep people safe, protect the environment, and ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and DOT requirements.

Better Together, Strive for Excellence, We Care, Do the Right Thing.- Own the HSE management system and annual plan: policies, procedures, training, audits, and metrics.
- Conduct and coach Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs); implement LOTO, confined space, powered industrial truck, fall protection, and ergonomics programs.
- Lead incident/near-miss investigations using root-cause analysis (5-Why, fishbone); track and close corrective actions.
- Manage OSHA recordkeeping (300/300A/301), required postings, and federal/state reporting.
- Facilitate risk assessments for new equipment/processes; standardize PPE selection and care.
- Support FMCSA compliance (DQ files, MVRs, hours of service, inspections, accident review board).
- Publish monthly HSE dashboards (TRIR, DART, severity, near-miss rate, audit findings, closure times, environmental compliance status).
- Implement and administer HSE software (incident tracking, training, audits).
- Monitor CSA scores and remediation.
- Manage industry incident tracking organizations and safety program incident recording.
- Provide oversight on legal matters arising from safety/vehicle incidents.
- This is a mix of in-office and warehouse/yard environments; frequent walking and standing; occasional lifting up to 40 lbs.
- Travel to branches/warehouses ~25–40% (for audits, training, incidents, and projects).
- Occasional after-hours and weekend support for incidents and emergency response is expected- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety (or related field) + 3 years of HSE experience in industrial/distribution/warehouse or oil & gas,
OR
- Combination of education/training and 5–10 years of progressive HSE experience in similar environments.
- Strong working knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR 1910 (and relevant 1926), EPA (SPCC, RCRA basics, stormwater), and DOT/FMCSA fundamentals.
- CSP, ASP, CHMM, COSS, OSHA 30, HAZWOPER 24/40, ISO 14001/45001 exposure
- Proven success leading incident investigations and root-cause analysis with timely corrective actions.
- Clear communicator and coach; able to influence across branches and shifts.
- Strong data analysis and dashboarding skills (Power BI and/or Tableau is a plus).
- Hands-on warehouse/forklift safety, material handling, racking, and contractor management.
- 90 Days:
HSE plan & compliance calendar active; baseline audits completed; high-risk training refreshed; near-miss program launched; Safety Manual completed.
- 6 Months:
TRIR and DART trending down; >90% on-time training; corrective actions closed ≤30 days; all SPCC/SWPPP and waste files audit-ready; Contractor Safety Manual completed.
- 12 Months:
Sustained reduction in incidents and claims severity; zero missed regulatory deadlines; measurable lift in safety culture survey scores.
