Environmental Project Manager – Oil & Gas Industry

Location: Permian Basin (Southeast New Mexico & West Texas, including Carlsbad, Artesia, and Midland/Odessa)

Location

This position can be done remotely with monthly field visits.

Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Environmental Project Manager to join our team supporting oil and gas operations in the heart of the Permian Basin, covering Southeast New Mexico and West Texas. This region is one of the most dynamic energy-producing areas in the country, offering unique opportunities to work on high-impact environmental projects that shape the future of the industry. Our projects are based in and around key oil and gas hubs such as Carlsbad, Artesia, and Midland/Odessa, providing a blend of field and office work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Experience with Bureau of Land Management (BLM) training standards and workforce development is highly valued.

Key Responsibilities

•

Coordinate with stakeholders, regulatory agencies (including BLM), and internal teams to ensure project objectives are met.

•

Maintain meticulous documentation and reporting to support decision-making and compliance.

•

Provide technical guidance and hands-on support for field activities.

•

Support project budgeting, scheduling, and risk management.

•

Foster a culture of safety, environmental stewardship, and continuous improvement.

•

Engage with BLM training and workforce development programs as required, ensuring compliance with BLM standards for fire and workforce training, and participate in relevant BLM training courses and professional development opportunities.

Qualifications

•

Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Environmental Science, Biology, or related field (Master’s preferred for higher-level roles).

•

2+ years of experience in environmental roles, ideally within the oil and gas industry.

•

Proven project management experience, including stakeholder coordination and regulatory interface.

•

Strong analytical, report preparation, and documentation skills.

•

Experience with environmental impact assessments, and compliance inspections.

•

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

•

Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

•

Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to field sites as needed.

•

Familiarity with BLM training standards or willingness to complete BLM-specific training and workforce development programs as part of the role.

•

Experience working with and writing enviornmental assessments and field reports for the Carlsbad Field Office

•

Ability to assemble and manage technical teams

Nice to have:

•

Biology degree and experience with endangered and threatened species policies

•

Specific plant species identification training

•

Trainig for identification of hydrological features and wetland and stream dileneation

•

Karst identification

Preferred Skills

•

Advanced knowledge of environmental regulations affecting oil and gas operations in New Mexico and Texas.

•

Certifications in workplace safety, environmental compliance, or project management.

•

Experience with manufacturing or laboratory environments is a plus.

•

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and environmental data management tools.
