Overview
The Saskatchewan Research Council’s (SRC) Rare Earth Element Division has an opening for an Engineering Technologist who will provide hands-on design, drafting and field support for SRC’s Rare Earth Processing Facility.
Accountabilities
•Prepare 3D models and drawings including mechanical and piping layouts, P&IDs, detailed drawings, isometrics and fabrication drawings
•Review designs for accuracy, completeness and compliance with specifications; modify designs as necessary based on feedback from engineers
•Support engineering efforts with design concepts, equipment specifications and procurement activities
•Coordinate with other engineering disciplines to ensure seamless integration of piping and mechanical designs, focusing on early clash detection and resolution
•Generate material takeoff (MTO) reports, equipment lists, and technical specifications
•Perform on-site measurements to support equipment design and integration and to create As-Built drawings
•Provide timely support during construction and commissioning, including responding to inquiries, reviewing shop drawings and efficiently resolving design-related issues
Qualifications
•Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Engineering Design and Drafting Technology or equivalent
•Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in mechanical, piping and HVAC design, preferably in an industrial or engineering consulting environment
•Proficient in Plant 3D and AutoCAD for mechanical design and modeling
•Experience working on capital projects involving process equipment is an asset
•Registered with Technology Professionals Saskatchewan (TPS) as a Professional Technologist (P.Tech.)

•Strong communication and interpersonal skills are required to work efficiently and collaboratively with multiple disciplines, project groups and clients
•Highly organized and proactive, with strong attention to detail
•Creative, innovative and holistic approach to problem solving
•Mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot design and field issues under time-sensitive conditions
The chosen candidate will also be required to provide an original Criminal Record Check that is satisfactory to SRC prior to the commencement of any employment duties. The Criminal Record Check must have been executed within the preceding 30 days of receipt.
