Job Title: Engineering Manager
Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Engineering Manager who embodies our core values to join our team at AmWest Control, Inc. This pivotal role is responsible for overseeing the internal CAD, Engineering, and Project Management functions. The Engineering Manager will be a key point of contact for design, purchasing, production release, service coordination, HR, and finance, playing a crucial role in driving innovation, ensuring quality, and fostering the growth of our team. Responsibilities
•Department Leadership & Management:
•Oversee the internal CAD, Engineering, and Project Management functions, demonstrating Leadership by inspiring growth and innovation within our established framework of processes and procedures.
•Evaluate the Design Department's workload, current projects, staffing, and projections.
•Provide mentorship and guidance to a team of 5-7 staff members, fostering professional growth and showing Compassion and support.
•Provide feedback to all direct reports on expectations and performance, promoting Accountability and striving for Improvement.
•Evaluate design department tools, develop, and manage the department budget, showcasing Ownership in defining the department's future.
•Provide project assignments, expectations, and accountability for the Design & Engineering Team, leveraging our robust file organization and archiving systems.
•Manage small and strategic projects.
•Oversee project schedules.
Design & Quality Assurance:
•Oversee the design and development of electrical and hydraulic control systems for water and wastewater applications, ensuring high standards of Service to internal and external customers, consistent with our well-documented processes.
•Maintain and improve the Design QA/QC process and perform quality control procedures on all design products, reflecting a commitment to Improvement and upholding our standards for quality.
•Provide technical support to the team where necessary.
•Coordinate continuous improvement of the design department processes & procedures, building upon our already strong foundation.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
•Collaborate effectively with executives, department heads, clients, the estimating team, field service, programming, production, and procurement to ensure project success and foster continuous improvement in information exchange. This includes maintaining strong relationships, addressing project challenges and opportunities, coordinating schedules, and providing support, all embodying our dedication to Service and effective Teamwork.
•Provide Project Engineer support regarding vendor relations.
Financial & Strategic Contributions:
•Assist in reviewing bids, quotations, and change orders for accuracy, displaying Accountability in commitments.
•Prepare SOV (Schedule of Values) & billing with the project team.
•Manage Project Engineers' input to Accounting for Invoicing.
•Assist in vendor price negotiations.
•Provide business advice and consultancy to the executive team, taking Leadership through bold action.
•Represent the company in official functions.
•Maintain a comprehensive understanding of the company’s strategies, pricing policies, and other pertinent information to effectively manage customer issues and projects, exercising strong Ownership.
Requirements
•Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field.
•Proven experience within the water and wastewater industry is essential.
•A minimum of 5 years of proven experience in engineering management or similar leadership roles within the manufacturing sector, specifically overseeing CAD, Engineering, and Project Management functions, with an appreciation for structured processes.
•Strong leadership and team management skills, with experience supervising 5-7 staff members, and a genuine commitment to fostering Teamwork and the Improvement of your team.
•Knowledge of root cause analysis methodologies is essential.
•Familiarity with systems engineering principles is required.
•Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with internal teams, clients, and external stakeholders, driven by a desire for outstanding Service.
•Ability to maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends and technologies to drive innovation, embodying our value of continuous Improvement.
