Summary: Provides Tank Engineering support for Energy Transfer’s Western area Aboveground Storage Tank Program to ensure compliance with applicable regulations.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Primary focus will be to provide Tank Engineering support for Energy Transfer’s Western area above-ground Storage Tank Program to ensure compliance with applicable regulations. This includes the coordination of tank inspections and repairs, ranging from $5k to $5MM, to provide cost effective solutions.

- Responsible for effectively maintaining accurate tank information, data, and records along with excellent communication regarding status of tank maintenance repair projects.

- Selection of appropriate tank coatings while considering the material being stored, the tank’s environment and compliance with Energy Transfer Coating Manual.

- Work with Corrosion Services and the Corrosion Technician to evaluate cathodic protection conditions that could have an impact on tank bottom corrosion rates.

- Using tank integrity inspection and analysis tools such as API-Risk Based Inspection (where allowed) to determine the extent of required inspections, and overall inspection strategies.

- Assures that all safety procedures and policies are properly communicated and enforced with tank contractors by developing appropriate project specifications, including MOCs and review of SSSPs (Site Specific Safety Plans) and JSA (Job Safety Analysis).

- Coordinates and communicates with tank contractors and on-site inspectors on matters involving tank degassing, cleaning, inspection, and repairs. Executes project management duties, from inception of tank project through completion of work, involving AFEs, cost estimates, schedules, work scopes, contracts and releases, and construction management.

- Manages project financials, forecasting and scheduling to meet Capital plan and timeline.

- Provide strategic guidance to assist with long range planning and budgeting.

- Provides engineering expertise for troubleshooting maintenance and operational improvement of ET aboveground storage tank facilities to ensure asset integrity.

- Communicates and interfaces with Operations, Business Development, and HES to ensure that all matters relating to aboveground storage tanks are accounted for.

- Participation in regulatory audits as requested by compliance.

- Maintain good working knowledge of Industry Codes and Requirements as well as company Engineering Standards & Procedures

Requirements: Education and/or Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements for this position are listed below:

- BS in Engineering

- 3-6 years of related experience, preferably including experience and in-depth knowledge related to pipeline and terminal facilities.

- Strong PC skills, excellent verbal & written communications skills and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of management, field personnel, and professionals.

- A customer focused attitude and demonstrated ability to function as a team player.

Preferred Qualifications: Education and/or Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:


- BS in Mechanical or Civil Engineering

- API 653 Certificate

- A working knowledge of procedures for tank repairs such as tank cleaning, welding, material selection and application or being capable of quickly learning procedures as identified in API standards and practices, relating to aboveground storage tanks.

- Working knowledge of API 650, API 653, DOT Part 195 regulations and/or experience with tank construction or maintenance.

A valid and current TWIC Card or meet the requirements for acceptable application upon employment.

Working Conditions: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

- Usually, normal office working conditions.

- Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time due to prolonged periods of sitting or standing.

- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.

- Must be able to work at elevated heights and working in confined spaces opening for extended periods. Regular climbing of equipment structure and scaffold ladders both internal and external.

- Must be able to drive for extended periods of time and distances further than 90 miles.

- Must have a safe driving record for assigned company vehicle use.

- A minimum of 20% travel to facilities in the assigned territory and outside the

assigned area is to be expected, including but not limited to travel for temporary assignments, meetings, and training.

- The job may also involve participating on occasional unscheduled callouts and extended workdays and/or workweeks.

- Position may be subject to applicable U.S. Department of Transportation Drug & Alcohol regulations.

- Occasional visits to industrial/manufacturing settings which may include hazardous materials and chemicals, as well as extreme temperature conditions and loud machinery, and require appropriate personal protective equipment.
