Job Summary

The Nuclear Analysis and Fuels (NAF) and Regulatory Affairs department at Innsbrook is looking for an Engineer, Senior Engineer, or Staff Engineer in the Fuel Procurement Engineering group. The candidate will fill a position in the Fuel Procurement Engineering (FPE) group and will be responsible for providing technical project leadership for nuclear fuel related projects. Positions will be filled at the level commensurate with the successful candidate’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.

The FPE group is part of the Nuclear Fuel Procurement (NFP) organization in the NAF department. The FPE group is responsible for identifying strategies for beneficial fuel and fuel-related changes, and for coordinating these strategies among NAF groups, including Nuclear Fuel Procurement, Nuclear Core Design, Nuclear Safety Analysis, Fuel Performance Analysis and Dry Storage as well as organizations outside of NAF, which include Reactor Engineering, Chemistry, Nuclear Operations, and nuclear fuel suppliers. FPE is responsible for project management of reactor core reloads for Dominion's nuclear fleet, and for providing project management support for NAF projects that are complex, multi-discipline, or multi-site in nature, or which otherwise require FPE support as determined by NAF management.

Job Responsibilities:

- Manage and implement reactor core reload design analyses for the Dominion nuclear fleet including generating reload safety evaluations and core operating limit reports.

- Provide project management support for nuclear fuel and fuel-related strategies.

- Serve as the primary point of contact for interactions with fuel and fuel component vendors concerning fuel products, and analytical and operational support services.

- Interface with NAF groups, Regulatory Affairs, Operations, Chemistry, and fuel/engineering services suppliers for analysis and evaluation support as the project requires.

- Perform 10 CFR 50.59 reviews on engineering project deliverables.

- Interact with and coordinate interactions with the Nuclear Regulatory Commission staff as required.

- Identify opportunities and implement strategies for cost-beneficial and margin-creating fuel and fuel-related design and analysis changes.

- Establish and maintain required qualifications and participate in ongoing training activities to maintain and enhance technical and professional qualifications.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

# To be qualified for the Engineer role, candidates must possess the following minimum knowledge, skills, abilities and experience:

- Minimum relevant work experience: Engineer: 2+ years; Senior Engineer: 5+ years; Staff Engineer: 7+ years

- Knowledge of fundamental nuclear, mechanical, and electrical theory, and knowledge of engineering design, design control, nuclear power plant systems, structures, components, and operation of nuclear power plants.

- Broad knowledge of nuclear core design analysis codes, models, and methods, including those used to perform nuclear core analysis, thermal/hydraulic analysis, reactor coolant system transient analysis, and fuel performance analysis.

- Knowledge of nuclear regulations and regulatory processes, especially those that establish requirements for the design and licensing bases of nuclear plants. Knowledge of the requirements of 10 CFR 50.59 and the provisions under which licensees may make changes to the facility without prior NRC review and approval.

- Ability to identify technical, analytical, organizational, regulatory, administrative, and plant implementation scope for nuclear fuel, reactor core, and nuclear plant system design and analysis activities.

- Problem-solving skills, including demonstrated ability to define problems, collect information, evaluate data, draw valid conclusions, and develop solutions on a case-by-case and nuclear-fleet-wide basis.

- Ability to maintain cognizance and control of multiple projects, tasks, or teams.

- Professional orientation and interpersonal skills, including an ability to lead, communicate effectively in both written and oral forms, work in teams, and to work independently under own initiative.

- Direct experience with nuclear fuel and reload design methodology

- Project management experience

- Reload Safety Evaluation and 10 CFR 50.59 qualifications preferred

Education Requirements

# REQUIRED ENGINEERING CRITERIA: For placement of a candidate in the Engineer job series, the following criteria must be met:

- Possess a 4-year Engineering degree from an ABET accredited Engineering program based on the year that the Engineering program was accredited by ABET, or

- Possess a 4-year Engineering degree from an institution outside of the U.S. which is accredited through the country's own Engineering accrediting body under the Washington Accord as a full signatory, and is a degree that was recognized by the country's accrediting body on or after the date that full signatory status was achieved, or

- Possess a 4-year degree in Engineering (non-ABET accredited), Physics, Chemistry, Math or Engineering Technology and a post-graduate Engineering degree from an institution where the undergraduate degree in the same Engineering discipline is ABET-accredited based on the year the Engineering program was accredited by ABET, or

- Holds or has previously held a valid U.S. Professional Engineer license.

A preferred canidate will also possess an dvanced business degree (such as Masters of Business Administration)
