In support of achieving excellence and business results through safe, reliable operations, our I & C Systems and Components department is currently hiring for an Engineer/Engineering Trainee. The successful candidate will provide expertise in a specific technical area required to sustain performance of assets and resolve non-standard design and technical problems related to processes, equipment or systems.
The I & C Systems and Components department looks after reactivity control & shutdown systems and components like transmitters, controllers, temperature measurement, PLC etc.
This is a permanent, full-time position which offers a competitive benefits, compensation and pension package and is located on site in Tiverton, Ontario.
Key
Responsibilities:* Act as I&C System Engineer for assigned I&C Systems for Reactivity Control Systems and Shutdown Systems.
•Regularly monitor and review the performance of assigned system and components with a focus on predicting and preventing equipment failures
•Support Bruce Power’s INPO, WANO, CNSC, etc. reviews. Ensures system and component programs are consistent with the technical conscious principles of these oversight groups and our Regulator. Effectively address areas for improvement as assigned.
•Complete System/Component Health Reporting for assigned system/components as required.
•Collaborate with Reactor Safety Engineers, Equipment Performance Engineers and Plant Health Committees to resolve equipment health threats or concerns.
•Develop and maintain an understanding of the assigned equipment through participation in industry users-groups and network with external knowledgeable contacts. Maintain strong relationships with vendors and industry, solicit support as required for system & component management.
•Review relevant industry Operating Experience and regulatory requirements and initiate actions as necessary.
•Focus on long-term equipment health and develop, optimize and maintain Technical Basis Assessment, Life Cycle Management Plan and determine Asset Life Projections and Options.
•Act as the system/component Subject Matter Expert and assist in analyzing non-standard station technical problems, or problems requiring an advanced level of expertise.
•Prepare and support Engineering Evaluations, Technical Operability Evaluations, Equipment Apparent Cause Evaluations, Common Cause evaluations, and Root Cause Investigations as required.
•Provide technical support to Operations and Maintenance, including but not limited to reviewing technical content of Operating and Maintenance manuals, engineering evaluation plan and/or troubleshooting plan technical verification, or provide support to the Technical Operability Evaluation process.
•Keep informed regarding internal and external industry issues and solutions for the assigned components. Assess relevance and importance of the issue and, with concurrence of your Section Manager, act to mitigate the condition at Bruce Power. Communicate these issues to key stakeholders. Apply this knowledge by making technical improvements, where deemed necessary.
•Act as the Peer Group coordinator for the designated system/components and equipment. Organize, prepare the agenda and content, and lead peer group meetings quarterly.
•Independently manage workload to maintain high levels of quality and schedule adherence for assigned deliverables.
•Act as owners’ representation for the projects related to assigned system/component as required.
•Attend, and represent department, as directed, on various internal and external technical committees.
•Assist Plant Engineering to ensure systems are operating within the established design and licensing basis.

•Knowledge of safety systems and I&C component is an asset.
Education and Experience:
Engineer (Occupation Code 670325)* Completion of a 4-year University Engineering degree. Experience in Electrical I & C is considered an asset.
•An Ontario Professional Engineering designation is required (P.Eng.).
•A period of over 6 years and up to and including 8 years’ experience is considered necessary.
Engineering Trainee (Occupation Code 670207)* Completion of a 4-year University Engineering degree. Experience in Electrical I & C is considered an asset.
•Working towards a valid Professional Engineers of Ontario certification.
•A period of over 2 years and up to and including 4 years' experience is considered necessary.
