Job Summary
Lead in the planning and development of standards and processes for the engineering/design and construction of HV/EHV/UHV transmission lines. Promote and advance Standards interests in working with internal and external stakeholders.
This is a full-time in office position in Tulsa, OK
Job Description What You'll Do:
Perform engineering and design work related to the construction and maintenance of transmission lines under direct to moderate supervision. Duties and responsibilities include (but not limited to):
- Assist in the development of specifications, guidelines, and standards for transmission line design, structure and foundation design, construction, and maintenance.
- Assist in the development of specifications, standards, and testing procedures for all transmission material.
- Assist in the evaluation and approval of transmission material and suppliers.
- Work with Supply Chain to assist in managing Transmission material blankets and supplier relationships.
- Assist in the rollout and implementation of new standards and best practices to internal and external stakeholders.
- Provide engineering support to the transmission regional teams in the execution of the capital work plan.
- Basic knowledge and application of NESC (National Electrical Safety Code), IEEE publications related to all transmission material and construction, and current industry standards.
- Basic working knowledge and application of transmission line engineering catenary theory and structure load development.
- Basic working knowledge and application of transmission construction methods and practices and cost estimating.
- Assist with the solving unique engineering issues related to construction and maintenance.
- Apply basics of electrical transmission systems (e.g., grounding, shielding, insulation, EMF) in the development of standards.
- Competence with AutoCAD. Proficiency with Microsoft products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

- Technical expertise: possesses technical knowledge acquired from a Bachelors level engineering degree program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET); gains familiarity with standards, codes and regulations relevant to the area of assignment; gains familiarity with pertinent equipment, materials, systems and business processes; assists higher level engineers in handling well defined portions of routine problems or analysis.
- Work performance: performs work activities as assigned and coached by higher level employees; demonstrates ability to work with others in both supplying information and seeking assistance as necessary.
- Planning and organization ability: prepares basic cost estimates using established standards; develops understanding of work flow of routine engineering projects; accomplishes work according to plan and schedule established by higher level employees.

- Individuals with a Master's degree in engineering from an engineering program accredited by ABET. may be considered for entry into the organization at this level.
Engineer - Grade 7:

- Has typically acquired 4 or more years of related engineering experience along with a Bachelor's degree in engineering in a program accredited by ABET, or 2 years of related engineering experience along with a Master’s degree in engineering from a program accredited by ABET.
- Individuals with a PhD in engineering from an engineering program accredited by ABET may be considered for entry into the organization at this level.
- Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in any U.S. state or Puerto Rico is encouraged.
Engineer Senior - Grade 8:
($96,110.00 - $124,941.00)- Has typically acquired 6 or more years of related engineering experience along with a Bachelor's degree in engineering in a program accredited by ABET; or 4 years of related engineering experience along with a Master's degree or PhD in engineering from a program accredited by ABET.
- Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in any U.S. state or Puerto Rico is encouraged.
- A Bachelor's degree in engineering (non-ABET) plus a Master's degree or PhD in engineering from a university with an ABET accredited Bachelor's program. Confirmation is required to ensure the PE obtained in Puerto Rico aligns with NCEES standards.
